Did a search, didn't see anything that gave me a definitive answer...

I have a Music Hall MMF-5, which has no 33⅓ -> 45 setting. Switching the belt requires removing the (very heavy) platter, which is especially awkward, as I have the table at slightly less than shoulder height.

I know that speed regulators are typical for this kind of setup, but are they the same? I know where I can get one fairly cheap (from a guy I very much trust,) but would it work? I *think* the one he has is usually used with a Rega.

If they're not interchangeable, any thoughts as to which one to get?

I have the MMF-5 and I've been happy with the Speed Box S. I don't know if the deck (or my phono stage) is good enough to show the improvements of more expensive regulators.

I have an mmf-5 with the original cruise control. I wouldn't spend $400+ on the Speedbox whatever it is, but for a hundred bucks or so, it's a no brainer.
