    Great choices, Timlamp!
Sound Affects was my first Jam LP. When I saw them on that tour, there was dozens of Lambrettas and Vespas lined up outside. I had Quadrophenia flashbacks.
Let's add "Town Called Malice" to the list of Jam gems.

    Blur - Song 2

Supposedly Blur intended the song to be a parody of American rock music at the time, specifically grunge.
Ironically, it became their most popular song in the U.S.
Possibly more rock than "pop", YMMV.

Other useless trivia - just one YouTube video of Song 2 has had 26.8 million hits.

Some of these suggestions are nowhere near power pop.

Richard Marx? Journey? Blur? Good artists, decent songs, but a big NO, these are not power pop songs.

Pop songs they may be, but power pop songs, most definitely NOT.

Del Shannon had some great power pop tunes in the 1980s. This one from the early 80s was produced by Tom Petty and featured members of The Heartbreakers. Jude Cole from The Records (UK power pop group) was also a member of Del's band at this time, before entering a solo career. Del's great take on a classic Stones tune.

Great song, probably his biggest hit! Willie has made so many great albums, so many songs have been overlooked through the years. Willie's "Place I Have Never Been" LP features Roger McGuinn on 12-string guitar.

Lots of ignorance on the genre!

I think they are under the idea that power pop means popular music that has power - thus you get Journey, Richard Marx and bands like that. :unhunh:

Mimi is a really good guy. I played with Pezband at the Record Collector this past May when they came through NJ. It was a blast for me to jam with them.
