Now that I know how to upload screenshots, here are a bunch of images from vintage TV music programs.

I taped most of these 23 years ago from either VH-1 or Dick Clark's Golden Greats, but I'd like to know the name of the original show (or film) from which they came. Bonus points for posting the exact date of the performance or original broadcast.

I've got seven more to upload but I think I've used enough bandwidth for now. Thanks for the help!

Great Balls of Fire is from the Dick Clark Saturday Night Beechnut Show from February 15, 1958. The Eddie Cochran one is November 29, 1959.

My first thought with the Ronstadt pic was "Midnight Special". However, based on all the tinsel to the side, the Ronstadt screen shot doesn't look like it's from "Midnight Special". That show had the artists on a big stage that was far away from the side stage entrances. The "In Concert" suggestion seems more likely to me.

I don't believe it's beat club, but probably it's successor Musikladen.

I think the Temptations clip is from a local Detroit TV show that regularly had on lots of Motown hitmakers. A friend of mine owns the rights to those clips.

Linda, Andrew Gold and the other guy are all wearing the same clothes as they are in the "You're No Good" clip from the Midnight Special on YouTube, but it's obviously not the same clip. The tinsel doesn't look like Midnight Special (or In Concert, in my opinion).

She played "You're No Good" on the Midnight Specials aired Dec 21 1973 (hosted by Jose Feliciano, the one on YouTube), Jan 10 1975 and Jan 17 1975, according to the Midnight Special book. A photo identified as Jan 17 1975 shows her in a white strapless top.

She was on the Nov 9 1973 In Concert but everyone on that episode sang Cat Stevens songs. She performed "You're No Good" on the Dec 20 1974 telecast of In Concert.

I'm trying to think of other shows that could have been taped at NBC Burbank the same day as the 1973 Midnight Special. Maybe she was on the Tonight Show, although I don't think a Carson clip would be repeated on VH-1 or Dick Clark's Golden Greats. I found an episode guide for Flip Wilson online, but Linda isn't listed anywhere. Dinah Shore had a morning show that sometimes had country or MOR artists, but I just looked through all the TV Guides from November and December 1973, and Linda never comes up. Was NBC airing any other variety shows at the time, or were there any other variety shows recorded in beautiful downtown Burbank at that time?

Does your Linda Ronstadt clip also have Skunk Baxter, Clydie King, and the other singer?

    Hmmm

The Linda Ronstadt pic is from Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve (12/31/73).

I have this one on DVD. Definitely Beat Club 1972.
Though it's sometimes mislabeled as Musiclaiden (even on DVD).

I first saw the Osmonds clip on Dick Clark's Golden Greats.
I'll try to dig up the original air date tonight.

The Animals is from NBC's Hulabaloo, The Four Tops is American Bandstand, The Beach Boys is from some 1962 short film (can't remember the name) and Carl Perkins is from Ed Sullivan I'm pretty sure.

The Steppenwolf clip looks like it's from Dick Clark's The Rock & Roll Years series from '73-74.
