  1. And factoring in inflation that would come out to approximately $165.99 in 2014.

My local shop will reserve and sell me the upcoming RSD box for $140. I'm passing as I have original vinyl for everything already.

    Ha, really?

Why is it that people keep the boxes? I find the box just adds another step in getting the records played!

My local shop has it for $290 for RSD and will reserve it for me. I'm passing as I have decent copies on vinyl already, and because I'm not a crazy person. :)

How can one store list this at $140 and another at $290? And why would anyone pay $290 for four LPs???

That's Australian prices. The bloody Beatles mono box is $560 at some stores over here. It's why so many of us order our vinyl from the US and UK.

Because the store that has it for $140 is in the US and the store that is selling it for $290 is in Australia; the discrepancy is partly due to the cost of postage from the US, partly due to the poor exchange rate of the Aussie dollar against the greenback, partly due to the small market here and partly due to the fact that Australians are used to being ripped off.

Ah, I see - and that is $290 US or $290 AUS?

Snap! Yep, it's why I basically buy all my music from overseas. Even with the sometimes outrageous postage rates (sometimes nearly as high as the record itself) and the hassles of either returning faulty items or just wearing it, I'm still way ahead.

Because its part of the presentation and that was how it was originally issued. I'm sure if you ever went to re-sell it (not saying you would be just saying why others would keep it), one of the questions would be is do you have the box. Sure they are a PITA but they spent time to design some art work/picture for it so I always keep them. YMMV.

Yes, at least that's how it's presented on the RSD site - "RSD Exclusive Release" (3,500 copies).

I bought one at the RSD sale today. About $165 before taxes, so I hesitated, but I don't have any of these on vinyl, and it's a Neil era I would like to explore again, as I have largely ignored it.
