While listening to the new RSD pressing of Decade, I remembered how this was the set that got me into Neil, and I wished that there was a set for each ensuing ten-year span. So, I'll just have to make a CD for myself. But, picking the tracks on my own? Too boring. Too obvious.

    Here's the rules:
Post two/three tunes each from the following albums that you'd feel would absolutely need to be present. No more than that. Skip the "this decade sucks" chatter, please. I'll compile them with votes when there's enough to go on and see what the forum thinks could've been the 160-or-so minute follow up to that behemoth set!

    You can draw from:
    Comes a Time
    Rust Never Sleeps
    Hawks & Doves
    Re-ac-tor
    Trans
    Everybody's Rockin'
    Old Ways
    Landing On Water
    Life
    This Note's For You
    American Dream
(Only the Neil-heavy songs, of course).

If there's enough input, maybe we can put together cool comps for the following Decades, too!

  5. Pretty much all of "Rust Never Sleeps" & "Comes A Time"... honestly... those albums tower above the rest, so let's go with ALL of those two... then there's certainly some great tracks on the others... "Hawks & Doves" is, by pretty far, my fave of the others, but "Old Ways" is underrated... the rest have some great tracks, but the drop off from the 70's to the 80's is pretty steep... happily then we got the trio of resurgence "Freedom", "Ragged Glory" & "Harvest Moon"!!

I don't know the later albums that well outside of Rust and Hawks. I will pick my songs from those albums for one record, but you don't have to count them in your totals (now Decade 3, I'd be all over that one).

    Side A

    Comes A Time
    Look Out For My Love
My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)
    Pochahontas
    Powderfinger

    Side B

Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)

I'm not a fanatical Neil Young fan but that looks pretty spot on. Nonetheless, I'd make them 6 song sides adding "Pocahontas", "Powderfinger", "Little Thing Called Love", "Wonderin'" and, in keeping with Decade having some obscurities, "After Berlin" and "Grey Riders".

Great idea, it'd be tricky in reality as it encompasses Reprise and Geffen, I've included tracks from Lucky 13 as that's Neil's own take on choice of Geffen tracks so here's my take including unreleased songs.

Here's my suggestion for Decade II.
As the original Decade ended in 1975, I'll pick it up from there and I'll include songs recorded between 197 and 1986.
Strictly chronological ordered, according to the recording dates mentioned in the Archives.

    1. Lotta Love - Comes a Time
    2. Look Out For My Love - Comes a Time
    3. Pocahontas - Hitchiker
    4. Human Highway - Comes a Time
    5. Thrasher - Rust Never Sleeps
    6. Powderfinger - Rust Never Sleeps
    7. Comes A Time - Comes a Time
    8. Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black) - Rust Never Sleeps
    9. Sedan Delivery - Live Rust
    10. Hawks & Doves - Hawks & Doves
    11. Opera Star - Re·ac·tor
    12. Shots - Re·ac·tor
    13. Surfer Joe and Moe the Sleaze - Re-ac-tor
    14. Sample and Hold - Lucky Thirteen
    15. Computer Age - Trans
    16. Transformer Man - Trans
