Does Nielson take into account newer tech like DVR’s , youtube hits, streaming ( hulu, etc), etc? One would think that traditional TV ratings are a much smaller indicator for a show’s success.

Does Nielson still place $5 dollar bills in envelopes that contain the week’s survey ledger?

  2. Yes, Nielsen does incorporate DVR measurements.

A few months ago they sent our household a $1 bill to fill out some sort of ledger.

Funny. Maybe it was $1. I've also been sent money back in the day for Radio surveys

A good point to this is Walking Dead numbers which dropped to 7 million, but then had the second highest DVR numbers that almost matched it. So total viewership surpassed past seasons when taking that figure into account where DVR numbers were next to nill because of new technology.

Live TV is all but dead unless the content gets better. Roseanne coulda broke that mold...too bad.
