I was on The Beatles official store, and then I came across this: Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band CD Anyone have info on this? Doesn't seem to be the 2009 remaster.
Sgt. Pepper's 50th Anniversary editions to be released May 26, 2017* Anticipation Thread. Only 640 pages to catch up on. Mark
The lack of detailed information about what's for sale is ridiculous. Of course, they're selling one of the most recognizable musical pieces in cultural history, but... Hmmmm... Is it all part of The Plan?
Is it possible that around the Sgt Pepper anniversary they will issue a new batch of the original UK albums 2009 remasters, in cardboard sleeves, with mono and stereo on one CD (in the way they issued the US albums)? I remember that when the remasters were released in 2009, the official announcement was that they will be available for a limited period in this form, with the mini-documentaries. 8 years is quite vague definition of "limited", but maybe they decided that it's time to issue them this way (only the UK mono CD's are still not available separately). Who knows...can be just a wrong image of the artwork, but not only Sgt Pepper, but all the CD's (UK original albums) are shown now in the US Beatles store like mini vinyl replicas, in the European store they are as we know them.
This is extremely interesting, if they are released in just sleeves, we lose the booklets the '09 versions had. If the price doesn't change this seems like a downgrade, unless they contain the mono tracks as well.
I can't seem to find anymore information about this online, anyone else have? Will this be a quiet reissue to replace the current issue?
