Congratulations! This July marks the birthday of my three year old, who has his own record collection / shelf at the point, but three or so years ago is when I first began building a soundscape for him.
    1. You're going to need ein kleine nachtmusik, because those night time feedings will likely fall on your shoulders, and repetition and stability will be important for the little one. To this end, I recommend In A Silent Way, and an experimental artist named Caretaker.
    2. They are disinterested by much that we would find interesting. I've had the best luck with pre-60s recording era material: although the new wave folk, plus the beach boys plus the grateful dead seemed to raise a brow during the early months. Think high harmony. Folk, blues, and jazz vocal albums are highly recommended.

    Best of luck!

There is also the album called music to be born by, put out by Mickey Hart.

On a more serious note, don't over think it, you're programmed, you say gobbledygook and we sing simple lullabies, their little evolving brains gobble it up. Avoid trying to programme your babies future listen tastes, I've seen people try this one:crazy:

Since someone already mentioned "Put It There" by McCartney, I'll add "Children and All That Jazz" by Joan Baez and the exquisite "Everything Possible" by Fred Small. There doesn't seem to be a proper video, but here's the audio:

On a slight tangent, since I saw Peter Himmelman...
I highly, HIGHLY recommended his first two "kids" albums, My Best Friend Is A Salamander and My Fabulous Plum, the latter is almost Sgt Pepper for kids. My entire family still loves these power pop gems, and my boys are 19 and 17.
