KOCH INTERNATIONAL SIGNS DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH
    RE-ESTABLISHED MOBILE FIDELITY LABEL

    November 19, 2001 - Port Washington, NY - KOCH International, a leading
distributor of music, video and DVD announced today an exclusive
distribution agreement with the re-established audiophile record label
    Mobile Fidelity.

Mobile Fidelity was originally established in 1977 and developed critical
acclaim for being the pioneer of superior-sounding phonograph records. In
the 1980's, they introduced expanded dynamic-range gold compact discs and
forever changed the way consumers would listen to music.

In 2000, the Chicago-based audiophile mail-order company Music Direct
acquired Mobile Fidelity's patented technology and trademarks. Under new
ownership, the label will retain its own identity and release new Gold CDs
and Super Audio CDs through KOCH International beginning in February 2002.

Upcoming releases will include dual-layered SACD's from jazz
vocalist/pianist Patricia Barber, two of them with exclusive bonus tracks.
The titles include Café Blue, Modern Cool (with "The Fool On The Hill") and
Nightclub (with "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"). The second set of
releases will include two Gold CD titles for The Kinks' Low Budget and
Muswell Hillbillies. Six other Kinks titles are planned for release over
the following three years. All releases will include new liner notes.

"We have always been impressed with KOCH's prestigious presentation and
efficient distribution," says Rob Gillis, Label Manager for Mobile Fidelity.
"KOCH has a great ability to address the current needs facing our target
market and we are proud to be associated with them." Michael Rosenberg,
President of KOCH International adds, "The Mobile Fidelity name means a
great deal to those who want to hear classic albums in the best possible
sound. We are proud to have the opportunity to bring the new Mobile
    Fidelity line to our customers."

Thanks for the info, but I am skeptical about the Kinks releases. They did a lousy job of their 2 fer gold disc of early Kinks on the original MFSL label. I think I'll wait to hear some reviews from this board of the discs after they come out before I get them. I've been able to search out the PRT CDs and have been quite happy with them. I'm still hoping for a Greatest Hits CD that has the dry mono mixes of their early hits (the Rhino one doesn't count).

Anybody else remember Steve Hoffman talking about possibly doing some gold discs of RCA/Arista Kinks albums? I guess it ain't gonna happen now. Too bad -- Muswell Hillbillies would have been right up Steve's alley.

I thought I remembered SH talking at one point about doing a Best of Kinks CD but that seems to have sunk. Oh well.

What makes you say that? DCC hasn't been releasing anything, but it seems likely that Kinks project would still be on the "to-do" list whenever they resume putting out new product.

It's hard to get excited over remasters of post-1970 Kinks stuff. The current CDs sound fine. As we all know, it's the 60s stuff that needs remastering.
