Nice! Sound quality aside, have you heard (most of) the songs before, or is this also your first listen to for instance Have A Cigar or Welcome To The Machine?
I was only aware of Wish You Were Here track before, but other than that it's my first listen I am, so happy cos I'm in for some great listening
Possible? Yes. Even remotely likely? No. This was heavily marketed as being a limited RSD Exclusive, and I sincerely doubt any more will ever be manufactured of this particular pressing. RSD has been very good about keeping their exclusives exclusive. Edit: after looking at every distributor, including the one we got our initial RSD copies from, there is absolutely no indication that this has been reissued in any capacity.
I have original copies of Dark Side, Wish you were here, Animals and the Wall. Bought Meddle reissue last year. The artwork and texture is fantastic. Simply put it’s a gorgeous, flat, super quiet amazing sounding pressing. I can’t compare it to an original, but all I know is that it blows me away.
My first or second pressing Floyds all went missing long ago, aside from The Wall, which looks a little chewed up, but plays and sounds great. I picked Animals up in '77 or '78, but it's gone now. These reissues are a godsend for me, and I wasn't all that familiar with the material between Ummagumma and Meddle, so these were a nice way into those, and I don't remember having Wish You Were Here on vinyl, so there's that.
I have never listened to it before: Pink Floyd – The Wall Label: Pink Floyd Records – PFRLP11, Pink Floyd Records – 5099902988313 Format: 2 × Vinyl, Reissue, Remastered, Gatefold, 180 Gram Country: Europe Released: 26 Aug 2016 Discogs Link: Pink Floyd - The Wall
Excuse me if this has been asked somewhere on these 574 pages. Which of these 2016 reissues would you say are particularly successful, in the sense of being close or even better than originals? My 2 cents on the albums I’m most familiar with: Meddle - good effort but a UK 1st or UK HTM 3rd and the French original pressings all beat it. DSOTM - a little ‘anaemic’ sounding according to some? Not bad per se, but easily beaten by UK 70s pressings. One of the campaigns last successful efforts I’ve heard good things about 2016 pressings of The Wall, WYWH, animals and More. Comments?
2016 reissues Meddle- love the quiet vinyl for Echoes Obscured By Clouds- best I've heard.....highly recommended The Dark Side Of The Moon- I like it....not as much as the 30th anniversary or my Wally cut, but worth the $25. Wish You Were Here- There are two different cuts of this album.....the Doug Sax (2011) and the Bernie Grundman (2016).......both are nice, but the Grundman wins by a nose. Animals- Best I've heard....beats my early US. The Wall- love it......my original US with TML in the deadwax beats it, but not by much. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason- meh.I actually prefer my original DMM.
