Americana at times reminds of an early 1970's album. It has that early 70's feel.
    Can't wait for Act 2.

The vinyl is quiet and beautiful sounding.
A work of art gatefold cover wise.

The Jayhawks have some shows planned through the fall.
If there was ever a chance of Ray touring with them (still a long shot as Ray has been relatively inactive touring-wise---I think his age has caught up to him), it may not happen until the window in August or after mid-October:

Go see them even if not for Sir Ray. While not "spectacular" live (just excellent), they have one of the best catalogue of songs around. Dozens of sublime melodies, and at least 4 classic albums.

Oh yes. I caught them live last year. Very solid, as you say.

They played a free show at Lincoln Center last year, and I enjoyed them. (The woman organizer at the side of the stage who's eyes were bulging out and steam coming out of her ears when they went 1 minute past curfew enjoyed them less :D).

I can't make the NY show this September, but I'll see them again at some point.

I also agree that Ray is done touring. Probably will only keep doing a few shows here and there in England.....as the last 6 years.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ray dipped back and reprised a few older songs (even in abbreviated form) to make a thematic statement:
Oklahoma USA was on Muswell Hillbillies
The Getaway was on Other People's Lives
The Real World was on Working Man's Café
The Invaders was on Americana (Part I)

    ANYTHING ELSE?

The Big Weird, The Big Guys and A Street Called Hope are each chapters in Ray's book Americana.

Hmmm. The Americana Part I album had a few spoken word passages (with incidental music in the background), so maybe he'll be relating some (short) tales too on Part II.

March of The Zombies could possibly be Voodo Walk from Working Mans Cafe.

I like your abbreviated idea, that could be how he includes the older songs.

The lyrics to those songs are also in the book.
On that list there are 9 new titles, 4 previously released titles and 6 titles that we know as new songs and mentioned up thread.

The Amazon link lists the artist as "Our Ray". They somehow combined the album title "Our Country" with "Ray Davies" to give us "Our Ray"! And indeed he is our's!!!

Like that Sgt Pepper box set by "The New Originals". ;)

Remember that? Although Amazon (in Canada) had the last laugh, and cancelled all the orders due to the ridiculous low price.

You guys like Spinal Tap? They were The Originals and had to change their name because someone already was The Originals. So they became The New Originals :)

Can't wait for Our Ray to put out Act 2!
