Can't wait to read reviews and hear one! Rega = affordable high-end.

I like the new styling, I guess that they'll update the dac and the aria to match, hope so as then there's a chance that they might reduce the current aria which I have my eye on.

I dunno - kinda looks like a HD projector or an X-box.

If this gets close to a price I can afford, I might get one of these.

Or I'll snag a current generation Brio-R on the cheap as other people get this. I've nearly bought one before, but the lack of headphone output dissuaded me. That's a nice addition to the new version.

I feel like the Brio-R came out not long ago. Continually refreshing their products get annoying for owners of current gear. IMO

Yes, but is the price going to go up? It did when then went from the RS to RX line of speakers. What about the Elex r amp? Will that also be improved and include headphone connections?

I think audio-T has a launch event tomorrow so I would think the price will come out of that. Surely it'll go up though as it kind of makes the £200 headphone box redundant going forward in this line. Also while they're made in the U.K. I doubt the components are and with brexit, they will have only gone up.

  12. Why would a refresh annoy people who already own? If you buy something and its working well and you like it, then what's the deal? There are new updates on pretty much all technology, cars and so on.

Never understood this worry.. Just my opinion.

The Brio-R has been out for a little over 5 years now.

I'll keep mine, don't like the new style. What I imagine is the input selection button looks particularly cheesy. I'm well on my way to having a "vintage" Rega system.

Wonder if the Apollo-R will see an update as well?

You can bet the styling will be updated across the line.

The Apollo is due next, followed by the next up in the Planar range (formerly RP6). Notice that they've revised the naming back from Brio-R to Brio, RPx to Planar x etc....

I think the reason this is happening - after 5 years in the UK, maybe the US got the -R series later than us - is that this sector of the market is the most competitive. We've seen several important new amps, DACs and CD players in the £500-750 bracket recently. Can't blame Rega for needing to keep ahead, if they have the capacity.

Important to note that the changes to the Brio are not just to the externals. And personally I prefer the new look - more purposeful and solid.

Given the list price and the decline in the £, maybe US customers will see a price well under a grand ...?

And, if this new Brio manages to improve upon the sound of the Brio-R, they've got a world-class bargain on their hands.

They need to stop with these black plastic high gloss front designs. It looks sooooo cheap

I tried one out at AudioT in Brighton. Slightly bigger in depth to the Brio-R.
I had auditioned the Brio-R extensively and thought I would hold on just in case a new model due.
The sound is slightly punchier than the R, plus the bonus of a headphone socket is great. Placed my order hope to have it soon.
