Just listened to sound samples of the new Van album at CDnow. It's Van, unmistakably Van, but there are some nice new things going on in there. Nice horn arrangements. Doesn't sound like Pee Wee Ellis' work. No hint of Georgie Fame or Brian Kennedy either. My appetite has been well and truly whetted!
Peter, Thanks for the heads-up - I will have to go listen to the samples. I remember seeing the tracklist, and thinking that any song named "Whatever Happened to PJ Proby?" has to be unique. I always look forward to new Van, and luckily he puts out more stuff than the "once every three-to-four years" tack that many superstars seem to be on.
More info: 15 tracks and 67 minutes. Van has been busy! Apparently the european release only has 14 tracks so avoid that version.
Peter, The new Van album is one my wishlist. It's been several years since we have had a solid release from Van the man. This one sounds like a winner.
