Really looking forward to this. Such a great, great album. As someone else said, I can't wait to hear Travels in Nihilon in Surround mode, not to mention Optimisms Flame, No Language, etc. An embarrassment of riches to be sure.. A hopeful sign that they will eventually get to English Settlement, Mummer and Big Express!
I'd have to agree with some of the earlier posters that the original album mix already sounds amazing - I'm not really dying for a remix on this one. The 5.1 and the bonus stuff might change my mind though.
Really? Where did you hear this? Can't imagine why Andy would announce Black Sea as the next release if ES is ready to go. Would love to be proved wrong though!
This is incredibly good news. This is far and away my favorite XTC album, a perfect evolutionary end point of the arc of their first few albums, each taking a massive leap beyond the former. If Drums And Wires is their Rubber Soul, then Black Sea is their Revolver. I consider it one of the top ten pop rock albums ever made.
No one has mentioned the most important question. Will there be a signed postcard, and who will sign it?
Am I wrong about this? I thought 'English Settlement' was announced as the one they were currently working on about a year ago.
Huh? The XTC 5.1 mixes have been lossless. Not to pick on you per se, but amount of 5.1 misinformation and disinformation used to rationalize disinterest of (or even outright opposition to) 5.1 mixes is astounding.
I agree. Not sure what the problem is including 5.1 mixes in sets done by Steven Wilson . Very strange IMO.
I think Black Sea is already one of their best sounding albums, but I'm excited to hear what the remix sounds like. These deluxe editions are just the bees knees.
Here's the singles from the album and their b-sides, which I'm sure will be included. Though they might skip the single edits. I hope they do not. Generals And Majors (edit) Don't Lose Your Temper Smokeless Zone The Somnambulist Towers Of London (edit) I Set Myself On Fire (live) Battery Brides (live) Scissor Man (BBC session) Sgt. Anyone wanna take a stab at which demos or unreleased songs might be included?
As far as demos go, has fuzzy warbles not cleared out the archives? Also people are sleeping on Mummer. More sonically varied than settlement, and far more quirky and idiosyncratic. Feels like a post Smiley Smile BB's album.
Yes, how could I forget THE COLONEL single: Too Many Cooks In The Kitchen I Need Protection Take This Town was a b-side to Wake Up.
