Great news! Now we'll get a proper SACD of Come Away With Me.

Wow, there are actually release dates on Acoustic Sounds web site, and they're not that far off!

It's interesting that only Come Away With Me will be a multi-channel SACD. I wonder why that is.

  4. It's the only title with an existing 5.1 surround mix in hi-rez, Keith...otherwise, I'm happy as a clam about this development!!!:righton:

Oh my God! Finally some modern music!!!

    A dream come true.

I was asking myself why Amazon UK had listed the latest album at £8.99 and a £28.99.

Right, from the original SACD. So Analogue Productions is not doing their own 5.1 mixes. Got it.

I need to decide between SACD and Vinyl now. I sent the link to a friend with the note "Sorry for costing you $250".

I didn't even know she had that many albums. I am not as thrilled about this as some people seem to be. I can think of a lot of other new titles I rather see. I will probably buy Come Away With Me but that's it.

Buying the LPs individually will cost $175. Buying them in the "box set" is $260. Explain to me why anyone would buy the box set over buying them individually? Does anyone want the textured paper that feels like linen the box set is wrapped in that badly?

    From the Acoustic Sounds website:

In addition to the individual releases, Analogue and Blue Note will produce a limited edition SACD box set comprising all five titles plus an exclusive bonus album titled Covers. Only available as part of these sets, Covers includes 10 rare or unreleased interpretations of classics recorded throughout Norah's career. Artists covered include Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Horace Silver, Wilco and more.

Whoops, sorry, Roland S. beat me to this response.

Collectors will buy it, i think. It is exclusive and only in this Set.

Not my cup of tea, but I think it will do good business and good to see newer music being issued!

Fair enough, but I think charging $85 more for a bonus album is crazy. I'm sure folks will buy it, but stuff like this rubs me the wrong way. It's price gouging imo.

Will the SACD box set be available through Amazon or just through the likes of Acoustic Sounds?

Might be a way to pick it up cheaper...

The box set has a 6th album - the Covers. So if we assume the 6th album goes for $35 then the total for the albums is $218 (4 x $35 + $45 +$33). That says the box itself sets you back $42. Clearly they are getting a premium for the box set.

Maybe they've been watching too many episode of Reggie Perrin, where his Grot shop famously successfully sold complete rubbish, and they hit on the idea of: "January sales in September. 20% ON everything. Fantastic increases all round."?

I'll probably buy the individual titles on vinyl since that's how I prefer to listen lately

So, have they also revamped the previously released 5.1 mix of Come Away With Me?

I'll buy the SACDs individually. Covers isn't important enough to me to shell the extra dough.
