True...Unfortunately. As much as the Garage was interesting, I think Psych had more to offer in the quality department. I think what appealed was that it sounded most like the Rock of then and now compared to Psych, again, unfortunately. Lol

Naughty collections like Psychedelic Disater Whirl (and its expansion packs) certainly are packed with trippy delights that are unknown to all but the most dedicated musical archaeologists. I happen to land on the garage/punk side of Nuggets, but a side trip into psychedelia can prove very rewarding.

 

Good one. "Rollercoaster" is even better IMO.

Cool! In the same way the Ramones first turned me onto The Trashmen's Surfing Bird.

Both great songs but ultimately two different beasties all together. Love 'em both though.

Speaking of Little Girl, in their early, early days, R.E.M. did a raw, rollicking , but still very charming version of Little Girl as well.

The Allen Klein situation prevented a number of Midwest acts from Nuggets. Question Mark and the Mysterians(96 Tears), Bob Seger(Heavy Music), The Rationals(Their superior Respect-Aretha heard this before she cut hers).
Other tracks that shoulda been include Just Dropped In by The First Edition, I Love You by People, and Down On Me by Big Brother.

 

Both Nuggets boxes are way beyond essential, and picking just one or even just a few is really hard, but gun to my head, here are my four:
