I don't even own this on lp or cd but I have the song Release Me on the plum and brown Atlantic lp compliation This Is Soul. This can't be the "original master tape" on this lp but wow, when Esther sings, she is in the room and the sound is "tubey" with wonderful stereo separation and background vocals. The sound is very vibrant! If there is more still to be unearthed from the master tape, WOW! This would fit right in with DCC's wonderful reissues of Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Maxine Sullivan, Pee Wee Russell, etc. Additionally the licensing fees couldn't be as astronomical as the Stones, Beatles, etc.

For a great sounding version of Release Me in Stereo mastered from the original master tape seek out:

Ace UK Early Girls Vol. 3, CDCHD 775

The song was recorded in Nashville.

    Bob :)
