Agree that Henley is still quite good. I saw him summer 2016 and also loved the Tears For Fears cover...Henley mentioned he wished he'd written it. This time out he added a few Eagles tunes at the end.

I know you're talking about Tony, but don't forget Max. He's still playing great at 88. He still plays around the Dana Point area regularly.

Springsteen indeed. The 2016 River Tour show I saw in Oakland was fantastic...my favorite Bruce show since the 80s and possibly on par with them.

Bruce Springsteen, six weeks ago at MetLife Stadium. Four hour-plus show and an absolutely mesmerizing first 90 minutes where he played nothing from later than 1973.

EDIT - I see I was beaten to the punch! But the guy truly gave an outstanding performance just shy of his 67th birthday...

Neil's 2012 tour with Crazy Horse was amazing. I've never enjoyed his guitar work more and I've seen him many times in the past 25 years. Neil was carving mountains with that guitar sound.

Dave Brubeck (in Worcester, MA) a year or so before he died. He was about to turn 90. It was a wonderful show.

Ravi Shankar in 2007 at age 87.

It was fantastic! Great memories of that show, indeed.

  13. I saw Sam Rivers in 2008 at the age of ~85 (in Topeka KS, of all places), and he was fantastic. And the recordings with his Florida big band, most (all?) of which were from when he was in his 80's -- showed a vital and creative musician well into his 9th decade.

Pinetop Perkins, 94 at the time, who laid down a mean boogie woogie on the 88s during a show at the Spanish Ballroom, a short walk from my neighborhood, several years ago.

In the concert I mentioned in this thread, Bucky played with Stephane Grappelli, and he was absolutely great. Of course, he was the young one there at only 70.

  22. I saw B.B. King in the late 1980's & the dude removed my head. I didn't think it was possible to play a guitar like that. Let alone while you're in your early 60's...

Jimmy Scott, about 9 years ago from that front row of Hogg Auditorium in Austin. He came out wearing a tuxedo and earned a standing ovation before he sang a single word. A wonderful performer with a magical voice, check out the excellent documentary on him Jimmy Scott - If You Only Knew, it'll leave you in tears.
