Yes, the follow up Listen Without Prejudice actually sold more in the UK.

Really? Both albums are supposedly certified 4X platinum in the U.K.

As far as sales figures go, the self titled Blood, Sweat & Tears album is the only one most people are familiar with and the most hit abundant (even though the first album with Al Kooper gets just as much critical acclaim.) Wasn't it one of the best selling albums of '69 and didn't it also win a Grammy? Way before my time but I also know a lot of the songs on the album were all over AM radio in the day. Strange, as it's both a band and an album with songs that don't get talked about much anymore but for that one year, BST were the big thing, afaik.

To the general public in the US maybe. Can't speak for other countries, but Crime Of The Century was their big breakthrough album in the UK and just as well known as Breakfast In America. Crisis and Quietest Moments were big selling albums here too.

I also remember The Turning Point being big in it's time. My dad had it, so it was the only album of his I heard long before the Bluesbreakers/Clapton album. Turning Point also seemed to fit in back when FM radio used to be great.......I even heard "Room To Move" on Sirius/XM Deep Tracks over the weekend.

The follow-up, A Hard Road with Peter Green is every bit as good as this album IMO.

If I were you I'd get the thread title changed, some posters seem to be a bit confused.

When ever this "one album" thing comes up no matter how it's worded I always think of this gem ... (he did only put out one album, sorry)

Eric Carmen. His first solo album contained two huge hits. Then after that his singles and albums sold fewer and fewer.

  15. Also, the Indigo Girls' debut.

  16. In Canada, I'd say Crime probably ranks at about the same level as Breakfast, to the extent that Supertramp are remembered. Quietest Moments also seemed to be in the collections of a lot of my relatives.

Agreed. The OP stated, "What are some artists that have only released one album people care about?" I think a lot of people see "one album people care about" and think this is about artists that only have one good album.
With this interpretation, I thoroughly disagree with the mention of Television (Adventure is nearly as good as Marquee Moon) and John Mayall (many good LPs).

However, I think the OP meant "What are some artists [that have only released one album] people care about?
So, people should only be listing "artists that people care about" that only have one album.

The two follow-ups are both better albums. ('Listen Without Prejudice' and the 1996 one, title of which escapes me at the moment).

He's made many fine albums, but 1970's 'Fully Qualified Survivor' is the go-to Michael Chapman record. A classic. It's his most consistent record.

Gritty nature infused songwriting? - check. Superb Gus Dudgeon production - check. Stunning guitar playing - check. Mick Ronson's all over it - check.

    Ash76 Wait actually yeah no

I think the OP does mean artists who released more than 1 album but only 1 that is considered big or popular.
With that I submit Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
