After reading that strange list I decided not to read anything else on this thread and just leave.

That would be right after the white album for me ...... Not a favorite here either , i like a few songs , but would rather listen to just about any of their other albums .

Perhaps you should get "The River", "Born to Run" and "Darkness" and take it from there.

It's great, like all Coil, but one of my least favourite/least listened to. Many cite it as their best, but it has never really done it for me.

Rubber Soul. And Let It Be.

The Beatles were at their best when they were trying to be pretentious. Anything prior to Revolver is a snoozefest. Same with Let It Be, when they were trying to get "back to their roots."

Heck with roots. Give me ragas, Mellotrons and Leslie speakers. Bathe me in lyrical obscurity, and tie me to the bed with backwards tape loops. Only A Northern Song beats Yesterday, Every Day.

..... and I stand by that! :frog: I'm not even going to hide under the chair!

Having said that, this is still one of the best singles ever: The Beatles - Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da

Dark Side of the Moon - maybe I've overplayed it. Recognize it's brilliance but I'd rather play Animals.

Harvest - would reach for anything else 70s Neil.

Revolver - came to it late but prefer pre and post-Revolver Beatles.

I actively dislike it and I say that as a serious Springsteen fan. I can't stand the musical bombast of the title track and the light weight stupidity of some of the others. When "Born in the USA," or "Glory Days" or "Dancing in the Dark" are played in concert---far too frequently---I try to head for the exit to get something to eat or drink. I also dislike it because it is the album that people who know nothing about Springsteen most associate with him, and I don't think the association does him justice. Lastly, I dislike it because it is the Springsteen album most associated with a particularly disastrous fashion statement: that ghastly headband and sleeveless t-shirt with ripped biceps look. Most rock stars looked awful in the 1980's---terrible fashion defined the decade----but Springsteen suffered more than most in 1985.

I enjoy "Harvest" but it is not among my favorite Neil Young albums. I can go along with the song "Heart of Gold" on it. It's a good choice for his most popular song.

"Band on the Run" is a great enough album but not my favorite Wings or McCartney album.

The other thing is that Born In The U.S.A. followed a record that I think is Bruce's greatest artistic statement. He literally channeled the unrest in the American heartland with Nebraska and did so in a way that I still find emotionally engaging. I have special relationships with many Nebraska songs but none of the songs on Born In The U.S.A. are like that for me.

Supertramp Breakfast In America - radio overexposure, definitely, but also just weak material IMHO. I'll take Crisis and Quietest Moments any day.

Jethro Tull Aqualung - not that it's a bad album, but I just don't find myself compelled to listen to it very often. I prefer Minstrel In The Gallery and Heavy Horses.

Pink Floyd DSOTM and The Wall - partly due to radio overexposure (especially regarding the first), but I also feel that The Wall is overindulgent. A Saucerful Of Secrets, Meddle, and Animals are stronger albums by far IMHO.

I've been shooting the Jazz tube lately...I'm not even sure what that means? Anyway, trying to get a Jazz appreciation/history and a few that turn up on top 25/50/100 lists all the time are...

    Eric Dolphy-Time Out
    Coltrane -Blue Train
    Miles Davis-Bitches Brew
    Cannonball Adderly-Somethin Else

All critically acclaimed but I have a hard time getting thru any of them.
