I just bagged a MoFi disc on eBay and think I may have sniped one of you guys in the process. I have sent out one PM already to the member I think I zapped. He doesn't have his eBay handle on his profile. If it's not him but another of you guys then I am sorry and I will gladly hand over the disc at the price of your high bid. Perhaps I am being paranoid but that name sure looked familiar (after the auction ended and I bothered to take a look) and I don't snipe my friends.
If you are the violated party please accept my apology and hit me with a PM

    Best-
    Norm

Norm, you are very polite, but wouldn't your high bid just mean you won the auction?? :)

Oh I won it allright. Already beamed the seller his Paypal in fact.
I saw this disc for sale about three hours ago, marked it and went downstairs to watch some TV. I came back up with a couple of minutes left in the auction, signed in and sniped it. Then I looked at the handle of the second high bidder and it really looked familiar. Again, I may just be paranoid but it really is familiar. Could be it's just someone I have seen on eBay before. I surfed his history and he's only a buyer, never sells. I'm just not sure.

But, again, if's it's one of us I want to make it right

    Cheers-
    Norm

    But of course...

My stuff on eBay is easy to search cause I use the same handle as here:

    Here's the auction

    Norm,

You are too hard on yourself. You can never be sure that ANOTHER sniper is not going to outbid a "friend", thus resulting in neither you or the friend getting the disc.

I used to do this very same thing with the quad stuff - see a "friend" place a bid, then back off. Then, at the end of the auction, I would find that the friend only went to say $20, the thing got sniped at $30, and I would have paid $40.

    Norm,

That's mighty courteous of you -- most of us target CD collectors just snipe the heck out of each other. It's nothing personal, just that there is such a limited supply. Many times, we'll "meet up" here and discuss the outcome on particular lots, it's all fun.

Having said that, when there's a particular title that I don't care for but I know that someone else is looking for, I'll give them a heads up.

KeithH should follow your example and immediately send me that Cars target disc:D

Yeah, I felt guilty about sniping aceman by mistake with a Black Triangle Heart S/T so I sent him a copy. ;)

I haven't sniped Keith or vinylrec........yet! :D I may have sniped Chris though.

It is better to be the sniper than the snipee....

Unless it's related to A&M rarities, Esquivel, or audio gear that nobody here probably would want anyway, yer all safe from Rooody and his AuctionSniper. :D I snipe just about everything these days.

I actually did snipe a Hoffman member recently. He sent me a PM after the auction, kiddingly busting my butt over the infraction. His disc is already in the mail.

Yeah I am sensitive but I take this stuff pretty seriously. This place means that much to me. In fact the couple of times I have gotten in trouble here was when I got defensive of The Fourm. Mess with me but not The Forum.

Yes, we know, Norm, that terrible temper of yours....;) But I know what you're talking about....you're a good, honest guy....but hey, you play the game by the rules, no law against a little snipin' every now and then, keeps you on your game, ya know....:D

Ya know Norm, considering the area you live in and all the sniping you do, how do we know it was Malvo and not you :shh:

Very tasteless, and considering that you also live in Maryland, you should probably know better.

I apologize if I offended anyone, it was late at night and very ill-conceived. Peace.

    Hey Norm,
Both of the other bidders are bigtime aluminum MFSL bidders. I've sold to both of them. Nice snipe though, sometimes Zero goes for $75.

    Dave,
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to guilt you on the Heart. I found one a month or two later.

    Best,

Aaron my friend, no guilt here. I just felt kind of bad for you once I realized I had sniped you and thought you might like to hear for yourself. ;) It was a complete oversight on my part as I saw the title and the old pin-point focus thing happened essentially blocking out everything except for the "I'm gonna git this one" mentality. :D

    Norm,

Dave also sent me an apology via a PM just after I posted. Everything is fine with me and I replied with a PM to Dave, informing him of that fact.

Thanks man! I was actually watching some of those $75 dollar auctions.
I am working on this aluminum collection (thanks in part to you!) but I swear it's proving to be tougher to put together than either my MoFi or DCC gold sets were. For one thing, so many crazy Russian titles. Plus that one disc that you sold a couple months ago that you never see anymore. (what was that one again??). All in time I guess....
Still, it was easier to snipe when I didn't have 2,500 friends!
    Cheers-
    Norm
