I was on the Pathe newsreel website (the one where you can order clips or entire newsreels from the Pathe British archive sent to your computer), and noticed that in several cases, Beatles newsreels that featured any music (i.e. "The Beatles Come To Town") were unavailable. According to the website, it was because of a legal dispute between Apple and Pathe over copyrights, best as I could tell. (Apple claims Pathe doesn't have the right to use the songs). Considering the newsreels are still Pathe property, and Apple doesn't publish those early tunes, does Apple have a leg to stand on legally, or is it just another attempt to intimidate someone trying to use a supposed Beatle trademark, like Apple Computers?

Apple does have the say-so on licensing the Beatles' performances, not on the music publishing.
