Yes, they stated that Paul let's them buy the Super Deluxe edition of any Archive set for Half price. Quite a sport, he is ... ;)

Who would be considered #1? Alone since he stayed longer or Seiwell since he started earlier?

I was waiting for someone to ask that. But I don't know who gets to be designated Denny #1 or Denny #2. (Time for a poll?)

But who is Denny "Alone"? I think the spelling of "Laine" went wonky.

These are the only ones left in the series that I'm interested in paying for.

I was at the fest and had a great time listening to "The Wingmen" on Saturday and Sunday (Steve Holly, Lawrence Juber, Denny Laine, Denny Seiwell)

    Lotta fun!

*facepalm* and of course I'm past the editing time limit!

A Denny "Alone" Laine joke could be spun from this I'm sure

I saw Denny alone in 2008...

well, he was alone for the first set. For the second set, he was backed by The Cryers.

I can't imagine any of the remaining Wings albums warranting a TOW-style box set, but I thought the same of POP. I'd rather a return to the book-form if they come in pairs. I'd say return to the linen style cover, but I can see a wrap-around cover like FITD working well for Wild Life...

Unless MPL are putting together an entire booklet devoted to photos and stills from the three 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' films as they did for 'This One'. Or a 'Little Book of Fried Eggs' for Back to the Egg. It really wouldn't surprise me.

An article on the BBC today about the recording of Mull Of Kintyre 40 years ago.

Mull of Kintyre - Looking back on a Scottish mega-hit - BBC News

I know the Archive Collection doesn't normally involve itself in anniversaries, but I wonder if the potential delay of the new album opens up the possibility of a pre-Christmas London Town Archive Collection with heavy reference to a certain iconic bonus track!

We can but speculate (well, it's about all we do nowadays to be fair.... :))

That would be nice. But seeing as how MPL have shown little regard for anniversaries thus far (e.g. RAM) I'm not getting my hopes up. That said, if London Town did release next year, they could trump up the 40th anniversary. But of all the Wings albums to celebrate the anniversary of, it isn't London Town.

Don't give 'em any ideas!! I'd hate to see MPL put all their fried eggs in one basket. :tiphat:

Agreed, though it does have the benefit of being able to include as a bonus track (and the story of...) what was, for several years, the biggest selling single in UK history.

Now you mention it, I'm sure MPL would love to dedicate an entire booklet to Mull, accompanied by facismiles of the bagpipe accompaniment score. London Town boxset, it is.

Or given timing, the Thrillington mega-set.

Actually, London Town is in need of a major audiophile release. I LOVE this record but I don't like how it sounds. I would love a new repressing of this. Not sure where all the hate comes from (especially from those who bought the Pipes of Peace box...do people REALLY feel POP is better than LT? Stop the world I want to get off!) but I would love to see a box from this period.

I recall a story about a press listening party for the album, where someone said to Paul something alone the lines of 'nice demos, when's the actual album out?' and Paul stormed out. Possibly misremembering.

I don't dislike the album, but I don't feel it is worthy of a boxset. I actually quite enjoy the simplistic and synth-laden charm of it. The 'unfinished' nature isn't quite as endearing as it is for Wild Life, but the story behind the album being recorded on a boat etc, should make for a good read. We've already had a recount of the 'Wanderlust' Pot tale.

But I'd take any Wings album at this point!

But the quality of the songs more than makes up for it. London Town > Wild Life by a mile (or kilometer, depending on whose side you're on).
