I can't afford the amount of weed I'd need to watch this.

And here, I thought it was always about the media, not the content!

What's next? The Pam Anderson/Tommy Lee tapes on Blu-Ray?

That was such a stupid situation. I cannot believe that the cops would go into a movie theater playing X rated films to arrest men for "indecency." Hello -- look what's playing on the movie screen!!!

One of the best children's shows, of all time.

I particularly loved the Christmas special.

I lived in Sarasota for a year. Trust me, they had nothing else to do.

I was a big fan of this show as a kid. And I really loved the Pee Wee HBO special (Mr. Bungles!) I saw that pre-dated the Saturday morning show. But the episodes are all very similar. Try watching more than 2-3 in a row and you'll probably find yourself getting bored.

I never even would have thought this was shot on film. For some reason my memory is of it looking like video, but it's been a really long time.

  16. The original show was shot in 35mm, but post-produced in Standard Definition like "Star Trek: The Next Generation"...the producers of this blu-ray set got Paul("Pee-Wee")Ruebens to cough up the original camera negatives...this should sparkle in HD blu-ray!!!

I am not defending anything Paul Rubens did, but this is a brilliant kids show. I will get this for my 4 year old for sure.

AFAIK the last time Pee-Wee's Playhouse aired on U.S. TV was as part of Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" (2006-ish?). Those episodes were pretty chopped up, and usually omitted most of the shows intro. I always thought "The Hub" should pick this up (though it's unlikely a new syndication package would be created with these restored eps).

I remember the show from it's original run, and when CBS ran it late at night. I may pick this up for nostalgia's sake if it's not too spendy.

I had no clue that this show was filmed. I'm looking forward to this set as well. I remember watching it with my kids on Saturday mornings, followed by Ralph Bakshi's New Adventures of Mighty Mouse.

I used to enjoy watching PEE WEE'S PLAYHOUSE as the last show on Saturday Morning before switching over to the monster movies on the Boston independent channels. Not as subversive as the HBO special, but a lot of fun and silliness every week.

The Playhouse aired when I was living in my first post-college apartment. The perfect thing to watch on a Saturday morning, whether we were nursing a hangover or getting a head start on the next one. Really lookng forawrd to the Blu set.

Outtakes and deleted scenes could be cool. Also all thegazillions of of TV appearances PWH herman made in the 80's.

Very quiet for fairly major video release less than month away.
