There's at least a dozen great scenes in Orson Welles' Citizen Kane, but the first one I thought of was "Sing-Sing, Geddes! SIIIIIIING-SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!"

This could go on forever but I'll nominate the long tracking shot in Goodfellas.

The final scene in the Third Man. Joseph Cotten waiting for Valli, the leaves falling, the sad zither theme, and after she walks by not even blinking, he lights a smoke and tosses the match. A very patient scene, producer Selznick and writer Graham Greene wanted a happy ending but director Carol Reed had a better vision.

"In Cold Blood" - Perry (Robert Blake) sharing the story about his father, the tears falling from his eyes caused by the shadows of the rain on the nearby window. Brilliant!

Just flawless. You don't need to know the history between these two men to know very well what has gone on with them for years. Love how they talk around things at the eginning

I would also add the scene in True Confessions between DeNiro and Duvall. So wonderful underplayed. By the time the scene is over, you know there's been a lot of water under the bridge between these two. And a lot of other things too.

A scene so perfect that it is a stand-alone that is only included as a"deleted scene" on the dvd of the movie.

A different scene, but I love the way O.W. delivers the line: 'Everything you hate.'
