Sorry if this is already making the rounds but I saw this in an add from Soundstagedirect. Relics is getting the Grundman remaster treatment, and with the Nick Mason drawn cover:

I’m sure a flood of comments will be along shortly or did you post too soon and the timing of the bump placing the thread in the dark recesses of the SHMF :)

Not sure but I would have thought folks around here care about this album AND the cover chosen.

  5. Relics is great. In fact I just played my UK original this past weekend. Fabulous record. I think most of the comments for this are mixed in the Pulse reissue thread.

Comes out May 18th. Not sure If Ill buy one since my original is great but the price is very reasonable and the PF reissues have been fabulous.

Probably being discussed on that Pulse Relics confirmation thread.

Well, I'm looking forward to it, if nothing else in the anticipation that it won't have any fake stereo on it. Not really a whole lot else to say until it's released though.

I have an old Capitol copy with the bottle opener cover. Ugly as heck but it sounds good. It will be nice to have the Nick cover again.

I've been wanting to buy a copy of this on vinyl for a while. Almost did but missed the auction for a mid seventies UK repress. Maybe buying the reissue would do.

Loads of excitement about the RSD mono Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Personally I can''t get excited about that as I already have the 1997 mono CD. However I AM excited about Relics. A great album. Can't believe there's not more enthusiasm for this.

The mono Piper hasn't been released on LP - at least in the US - in about fifty years, so it's a big deal. I'm looking forward to the new Relics as well but it's a pretty common and inexpensive LP on the used market. I got a Capitol pressing for something like $4 at a Fye store just a couple of years ago.

Maybe not in the US, but there was a mono vinyl version in the UK in 1997. It had a strange edit in 'Flaming', apparently.

Only $21 now on Amazon, had to get this and Mazzy, as you pointed out, the reissues have been fantastic! I have most original PF on vinyl and have bought the reissues of what I was missing and only have complete Relics on Japanese mini sleeve , so this is a must for me! And after the incredible job they just did with the Piper mono RSD release, easy decision!

The original UK Starline pressing is cut at a good volume and sounds excellent. I hope they manage this on the new issue. I wonder if it will have Starline labels.

I agree Mazzy it is great to have lots of Floyd back on nicely done vinyl. My original 70s Relics are well worn and pre date my hi fi years so got played on my old single speaker Alba record player (everything stereo was a fold down to mono on that record player). I will have a read of the Pulse thread.
I have the recent cd on PF records of Relics am I right to think it is the same as the previous cd? Will try and find the correct Discogs links.

Wouldn't it have to feature the fake stereo to be a proper remaster of the original album?

That said, I'd probably get it if it didn't....

I don't know. Which tracks were fake stereo on the original?

...what was the the edit on this? Not heard that version.

Apparently, it was a mastering error, but the track seems to replicate the US single version of Flaming.
