Excuse me, do you own the 'Carpenters' album?
    Do you dig the album?

How many copies/pressings of the album do you have now?
How many copies/pressings of the album have you owned over the years:
cassettes, records, cds, digital files/downloads, ...?

Who am I to judge :hide: what is the essential/core music by Carpenters?
Nevertheless, perhaps the following might be helpful:
'All essential music by Carpenters' includes
all essential/core (important, best) studio albums.

'All officially recorded and released music by Carpenters' means:
all singles (both A-sides and B-sides), bonus tracks, outtakes,
    alternative takes, rarities, oddities, remixes, ...;
all studio albums, all live albums, remix albums, etc.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Carpenters' is the third studio album by the Carpenters.[1] Released on May 14, 1971, it was their most successful studio album ever, reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 12 in the UK.
With the hit songs "For All We Know", "Rainy Days and Mondays" and "Superstar", Carpenters solidified Karen Carpenter's reputation as one of the most accomplished vocalists of the 20th century.

It has been said that the strength of these recordings is what caused Richard Carpenter to ask his sister to front the band for their live performances instead of playing behind the drums.
Amongst many fans, the album has simply been referred to as "The Tan Album", because the original LP cover, complete with overlapping flap, looked like an oversized tan envelope,[2][3]
and is presumably a play on The Beatles' so-called White Album. (From here.)

Also, you might be interested in Musical and lyrical style and Legacy:
Karen Carpenter has been called one of the best female vocalists of the 20th Century by a number of influential publications ...
and Sir Paul McCartney called her the best female vocalist ever, saying that she was "the best female voice in the world: melodic, tuneful and distinctive."

I have the 'Carpenters' album. It's very good, but my favourites by them are 'Horizon', 'A Song For You' and 'Close To You'.

With the rest not lagging too far behind, I might add.:)

I have all the Carps LPs along with various remasters of their CDs. The last ones I bought were the Japanese SHM CDs a few years ago.

I don't own any, but if I were to buy a Carpenters album, this would be the one. I really wish that, instead of a medley, that those Bacharach tunes were individual tracks.

Have this one and all the others on vinyl. Also had the Japan issue mini lp box set but sent those on their way. Karen is my favorite female vocalist. Doesn't matter what song she's singing.

I'm one that only had the 69-73 singles on vinyl which just happens to be a great sounding album. I did pick this up recently for $3 however.

I think if anyone has one Carpenters album, it'll probably be The Singles 1969-1973.:)

Yep - guilty as charged; '69-'73 on Vinyl.
Inherited it from my wife, and it's an early '80's A&M re-issue, and it sounds fantastic.

I own a couple of Carps' CDs because I collect early pressings, so I had to vote "No 'Carpenters', but some of their other music"

If I didn't collect early pressings, though, I'd own zero Carps. Can't stand 'em!

I was given their Icon collection for Christmas. It just so happens that of the 11 songs, most if my favorites are included, which rarely happens for me with these Icon sets.

I'd like to get a more comprehensive singkes collection at some point, but they are one of those acts where a bug hit is always missing. Well, I guess that's true of most all comps, and yeah I know there is streaming, buy a download etc. The two disc Gold appears to have every single Top 40 hit but may be too much for me. Love Karen's voice so much.

So I don't own Carpenters at this point.

Love Carpenters, now and then (pun intended). A few albums and a handful of comps. Beware of the remixes on CD though!
