I was always surprised he never had a live DVD any time earlier
There's now a documentary on Netflix that's supposed to include performance footage

For those that have Wolfgang - I did find this from 1982 - the 30 second samples sound great!

The whole show is great! I've had this boot for many years and never understood why this (and Bloomington '84) were never released officially

Wondering if John’s political views and personal causes motivated fully 33% to vote no way to a 4 disc live release.

Think about it. Usually when a thread is created about an artist we don’t care for; we pass on or glance and move on.

To vote is an active participation and even if one only is negative towards his music - somehow I don’t see that high a percentage voting no - nearly equal to those that are fans and voted yes.

Surely, they can’t be negative about his Farm Aid work?

IF it’s political, then John should be applauded for making an even bigger sacrifice to his career than I thought earlier.

My first concert was Mellencamp during the Lonesome Jubilee Tour - 1987. Have a boot of it, but would love an official release of a show from that tour. Great, great band and tunes.

Don't remember this at all - I was down at school during this time - some great shots of the city. Human Wheels is decent record. I assuming you are talking about the below.

Just noticed that Bob Sirott is doing the interviews.

There is also the VH1 Big Backyard Barbecue (September 1996).

I do have a copy of the Barbecue on my hard drive.

  13. Yes, but for me to really want it, there need to be shows with Kenny Aronoff and hopefully some from the tour with David Grissom, too.

I watched this the other night. A very good show with live concert and voice over by John describing his career. Highly recommend.

This song from his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction would be great to have on disc:

Hell Yeah! Especially if it was done the same way as Tom Petty’s excellent Live Anthology 4CD set.

I've seen John live many, many times. The first show I saw was on the Scarecrow tour, in Sacramento, CA, and most recently it was the Sad Clowns tour stop at the Greek Theater in L.A.. Every show has been great, and his band is stellar. He's changed arrangements quite a few times over the years, so maybe one legendary full show, along with a compilation and some rarities (duets, covers etc.)

Johnny Cougar's legendary 1976 performance at the University of Toledo Student Union could comprise one disk... :)

John came to my town for two nights and one in Wisconsin to perform as "Pearl Doggie" in a 1,500 seat club. This was the early '90s and the whole show was cover songs. "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "Down By the River," stuff like that. Then he did 4-5 Mellencamp hits in the encore. THAT would make a helluva disc in the proposed collection.

Anyone remember the Good Samaritan tour. This was in the early 90s, John would show in city parks mostly unannounced and play for free.

This is much better ''at least the video'' a complete show from the Good Samaritan tour, unfortunately the sound still sucks.
