I have Band On The Run and Ram, single CDs.
    That's enough for me.
And this worship of him on here makes me sick.

I actually wish there were more worship of Paul myself! :D

In my experience, he has always been far less glorified or idealized than, say, John.

Heck, John could do no wrong in the eyes of many (it often seems), yet a vast majority of stuff brought up about Paul inevitably gets mentioned as a negative of some kind. Or something that he wasn't doing in the way John did, musically or otherwise. It seems Paul is the fab scapegoat for any or everything that A) was wrong about the Beatles at large, including the breakup itself, or B) was "wrong" with their solo efforts at large. The day he does receive worship will actually be a refreshing day in my eyes. In no small part because, personally, he is my favorite. :)

Not that I would know "worship" even if I seen it. To me, worshipping any pop musician seems like a strange notion. I'm not sure it would even be healthy to worship a pop artist! Seems a bit crazy to me.

Deluxe McCartney, RAM, Venus and Mars, Tug of War and Flowers in the Dirt.

2 CD + DVD edition of Band on the Run. (Am I missing something important without the book and the third CD included in the Deluxe?)

2 CD editions of the rest.

Now I'm planning on getting the Deluxe Red Rose Speedway and the 2 CD Wild Life, but the Deluxe of that is tempting me too...

I definitely can recommend the book for "Band On The Run". But then it really depends how much you love these sets (or the album at large). It probably isn't flat-out essential, but in my opinion, if you enjoyed the book and material found in the deluxe set for his debut, then this one is equally nice, and along the very same lines.

Gonna pick up the new Red Rose Speedway box for sure.
Probably, the only one I will get. Not a huge Macca fan but I do love RRS.

I didn't buy any of them. I already have all of his albums and probably most of his singles.
To me it would just be throwing away my hard earned cash.

  8. I got promo copies of "McCartney" and "McCartney II", purchased the deluxe editions of "Ram", "Band on the Run", "Tug of War", "Red Rose Speedway", "Wings Over America" along with the two CD versions of "At The Speed of Sound", "Wild Life" and "Venus and Mars". The promos had everything BUT the packaging (it used a specially manufactured package that is the size of the normal CDs with the two discs plus the DVD). I chose to get the 2 CD version of some titles because, frankly, it wasn't enough to entice me. Do I wish I had purchased the superdeluxe version of both "RRS" and "WL"? Part of me says yes and part no as I was able to get a variety of other boxed sets for Xmas that I otherwise probably wouldn't have gotten.

The bottom line is that I would have probably purchased the superdeluxe of the combined boxes if, "Wings Over Europe" aside (which I hope will get a stand alone release), if it also was autographed for that type of money.

Instead, for Xmas, I also got the Hendrix box, Be Bop Deluxe box, Mott The Hoople box (it was an early xmas gift from my wife) and a box to be named later (after the holidays).

I think that the set has been well done but I would probably rate them as follows:

    Ram
    Wings Over America
    Red Rose Speedway
    Band on the Run
    Tug of War
    Venus and Mars
    Wild Life
    At The Speed of Sound
    McCartney II
    McCartney

based on the actual contents of the boxes.

    I bought 'em all. :shrug::agree::laugh:

  11. Band on the Run (kind of regret buying that one the two disc would have sufficed)
    Tug of War
Wings Over America (ditto as the Best Buy 3 disc Limited edition would have sufficed)
    Flowers in the Dirt
    Red rose Speedway
    Ram

    I got promo copies of
    McCartney
    McCartney II
Wings At The Speed of Sound

when I was still writing reviews for for Couple websites.

    got the Venus and Mars
    Wild Life 2 CD sets.

I only went for the boxes of Ram and Bowl of Cherries. For the rest, I figured the 2-CD sets were good enough. I'd be curious if I'm missing out on something major strictly with respect to the music. I'm not that in to the ephemera.

  13. Nah, not really except the Red Rose Speedway/Wild Life combo set with the exclusive disc Of Live Over Europe (I didn’t buy it because the price was insane for the single disc)

I haven’t purchased a single one. I appreciate his writing and performing with the Beatles, but never really got into his solo work. “One of these Days” from PM2 is a great track, though.

Ram might be the best box of all. The Wings Over America is supposed to be great, but I don’t own that one.

It is, but to be able to hear the album as originally intended (2LP set) you would need the box. But I agree with you Bobby. Should have bought the 2 disc set.
