As much as I love WOA I only prefer Soily and Maybe I'm Amazed to the studio versions. Soily is about 1000 times better than the One Hand Clapping and studio versions and the Jimmy McCulloch guitar solo makes Maybe I'm Amazed better than its studio counterpart.

I wouldn't classify this as a "studio recording" as the You Tube poster does. Granted it is a different take from the One Hand Clapping version found on the Venus and Mars reissue but I just think they're live run throughs with a little sweetening for the film soundtrack. Either way, it's not a patch on the live WOA version, which I voted for.

I happen to like both versions, but I do love how frantic the live version is.

The song is hardly a masterpiece lyrically (even though they are quite controversial and odd lyrics), it is simply very catchy rock'n'roll with some great guitar parts. The version on WOA showcases the songs strengths really well IMO, and I can never sit still when I hear it.

Possibly so, but it has quite a different sound and feel to it than the One Hand Clapping version does... which while performed "live" is still being recorded in a studio. You may not consider either instance to be a studio recording like I do, but lots of studio recordings through the years by various artists were recorded "live".

They both have the same feel to me, especially in the case of Paul's vocals. He's clearly singing in a live show style. It's just that the You Tube clip audio is poorer in quality and the V&M bonus track version has been goosed to the eyeballs with eq and such. Yes it was recorded in a studio but it hasn't been built up with overdubs like a record version of it would have been (a la Hi Hi Hi as a record vs the live WOA version). To me the One Hand Clapping tracks are live recordings (with the odd bit of tweaking) of performances that were filmed for the tv show that never eventuated and I view them in the same way as the Rockshow film soundtrack and the WOA live album.

For me, the best version of TLAWR is on Let It be...Naked (that is to say if I HAD to pick a "favorite" version...overall, I think it's a pretty dreary song).

Man if there's a better version of My Love than WoA, please point it out to me. The studio version doesn't touch the live one.

Is the version of Soily on WOA the same performance that was on the documentary "Wings Over The World" ? In some ways, I like that version of Soily, but if its the same, then it's not an issue.
