"She's OK" I think she's talented, and I do respect her, just not a fan.

    Heh hehe.

My wife and I saw the video for Girls Just Want To Have Fun on one of the music video shows other than MTV back in the day. There were a whole bunch of them - Radio 1990, Night Flight, Night Tracks (on WTBS), Heartlight City...

We saw this video, loved it, and both of us agreed that we were very lucky to catch this very fun and cool thing on tape because there was no chance that we'd ever see it again.

We'd be even worse A&R people than you.

Anyone who doubts she has the goods need only listen to her pre-She's So Unusual band Blue Angel and her awesome cover of Gene Pitney's I'm Gonna Be Strong:

I like her SHE'S SO UNUSUAL album. Wonderfully weird, and consistent.

Not crazy about the time period of music she's most known for, but I respect Lauper as an artist and like her style and stage presence. I really like that DVD concert from (2004?) I get the impression she's an honest, kind and humble person with an eclectic taste in music.

I saw her open for Cher this year and she was really working the stage. I have to give her credit. I'm not a big fan but it was impressive. Thumbs up!

She also did a killer cover for the Joni Mitchell tribute concert which has never been released (I think it's on Youtube though). I'm not even a big Joni fan and was blown away by it.

I love Cyndi's first two albums, but kind of lost track of her after that. She's done pretty well in the movies I've seen her in too. I really like her.

Has anyone ever heard of The Hooters? Once they stopped working with Cindy.. Cindy's album sales stalled.

I am not really into pop singers.
I tend to lean more toward the creative end of music. The arrangers, producers, and those who actually play the music.

Used to love that Zenith Paris Theatre show, late 80's I think - haven't seen it in years, better voice live than on record, IMO.

I like her. 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' I didn't think much of, but when I heard 'I Drove All Night' my jaw hit the floor. It's a top-drawer vocal performance.

I really love her. I have seen her live six times between 1989 and last year and each time she gave phenomenal performances...definitely a better live voice than on record IMO. Some of her albums are hit and miss, but for the most part, she does what she feels like and usually does it well. I too enjoyed 'Memphis Blues' a lot more than I expected to!

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster so...Hi Guys!

I think there are some hidden gems lurking in her back catalogue. I remember buying Hat Full of Stars when it came out, very underrated album from start to finish. Sallys Pigeons is a career high point

In 1989 she was still trying to catch up to "True Blue". Smh :sigh: Madonna lapped poor Cyndi her by decades.
