For 10 years I've watched this band be ignored by this forum. Never understood why. Recently tried to sell the CDs I myself never reach for anymore, two members bought about 4 or 5, and that's been it. As I said, I sort of expected that reaction, but thought I'd try anyway. It'll be interesting to see how far this thread gets before it sinks.
Nice. I just purchased the collection. I've had a few of these as MP3s for years, but some (like XM2) I don't have at all.
I’ve been a fan since 1994. I saw them in concert quite a few times on their U.S. tours. They were an incredible live band! Very interesting to read the bio on the Bandcamp page. It says “Porcupine Tree ARE a U.K. rock band...”; key word being “are”.
I'll be honest, I am only interested in them reissuing their two compressed albums, less compressed and with outtakes (In Absentia for less than a hundred bucks, and Deadwing with 4 bonus tracks....... you know which ones). They better use this Bandcamp to sell those eventually.
The new releases (Nag's Head and the two acoustic ones) are 24bit. Anybody buy any of the other ones? Are they also 24bit?
They already reissued In Absentia, the remastered version is available digitally for roughly ten bucks. Deadwing deluxe is coming soon, presumably next year, but if you don't want to wait could buy the remaster on vinyl.
Sweet. Porcupine Tree is one of those bands with a near immaculate set of albums where the bookends are the worst, but not by a lot. There's 8 killer albums and plenty of other stuff worth hearing, the kind of band that can manage in multiple genres and end up making their best work
I have many of the offered releases, but did pick up the 2010 RAH acoustic, 6-14-07 Finland, and the 7-21-03 XM2 in-studio performance.
Agreed..except, and I know I'm in the minority here , I love The Incident. I play it quite frequently.
Really looking forward to listening to this stuff--thanks for the heads up. I saw Steven Wilson liked a tweet today by the PT Twitter that it was up and running, but didn't investigate it further. I really like it too--it was my introduction to the band, there's some great stuff on it, and I don't understand the hate it gets from PT fans.
I’m a big Wilson solo fan but not as big with PT. I’m trying, though and I did get the latest In Absentia box. Following them now on BC so I’ll be interested to see what they continue to add. I have been trying to buy more through BC when I’m getting digital albums. I like what they’re doing there. I saw Adrian Belew added all his albums, but no samples. (At least when they went up a few weeks ago.)
Can you confirm the bitrates of '07 Finland and XM2? Are they 24bit just like the new ones, or 16bit just like the original CDs?

Bandcamp site getting crushed today, must be lots of traffic for the no fees gimmick. Hope some bands make a bit of cash off it. I purchased the Acoustic 2012 session so far and tried to get the 2007 TV Broadcast a bit ago but the site was struggling. Will try again later.
Lots of SW discussion on these parts. But they haven't been active in 10 years so not much to discuss. The In Absentia reissue thread seems pretty busy. I dunno if PT CD's would be a hot commodity given how many issues there are of most of the studio albums (unles they were the weird ones like XM/XMII or something).
Been a big Porcupine Tree fan since around 2000. Saw them in concert in Melbourne in 2007. I have many of their CDs including boots I have not been a fan of Steven Wilson's last few solo projects. I prefer his guitar driven music not dance oriented drivel.
Steven Wilson was the first master of the pre order special edition CD and vinyl box sets. Now it’s clear out what’s left of PT as downloads. I’ve got a few PT good quality bootlegs.
