Oooh, both systems are lovely! So how do the systems compare sound-wise, racer?

VPI Scout with acrylic platter, motor upgrade and signature tonearm. Isolation platform is IKEA "Aptitlig" with two pairs of sonic design audio feet. Can literally stand beside the turntable and jump on the floor with no needle jump at all, very pleased! :)

Looks fantastic. Was that a sub in the corner of the old set up? Is that still in play?

I can’t really answer that just yet. The new system is a week old. The speakers, amp and cables need some time to settle in but I doubt I’ll miss the tubes.

That was a sub. But I never used it for two channel just for watching TV. The Nola Boxer 2 doesn’t need a sub. For standmounted speakers they put out some pretty healthy bass.

Thanks. I haven’t noticed any problems yet. But that’s a good point. I’m actually looking at getting an HRS platform for the turntable.

Beautiful! Love the round mirror also, has a retro vibe with the drink caddy.

Beautiful! What speakers are those, and what is that directly below your TV screen...an iPad stand or something?

    Thank you!

Those are Dali Suite 2.5 speakers, actually made in Denmark (i belvieve that most of the Dali production is made in china now a days?) Anyway, great combo with the HK 980 amp!

The iPad stand is called "GRIMAR" from IKEA...hehe (im swedish)

    Cheers!

Nice to see another one with Dali. I have the Suite 2.8 although mine have a black baffle at the front, aesthetically they look like they are from a different line of speakers.

I've been looking at other rooms for awhile in this thread but haven't seen any uses quite like what I do. I will admit I'm a bit envious of everyone that can have their turntable out in the open but having a dual purposed room (music/theater) is pretty great! I'm having all kinds of problems loading the url like many people before me so have to use the links.

First pic is the hallway at the bottom of the stairs leading into the open theater/listening room.

Next is a shot looking back at the hallway showing the equipment closet on the left. Having all the gear stowed away is advantageous as my two kids play quite a bit down there.

Equipment all tucked in, it's not elegant but it works very well.

Last couple of shots are from the listening position and then one of the open room. My speakers are behind the acoustically transparent screen. The screen is comparable to having a grill on them and doesn't effect the sound in a negative way. While level matching all my speakers I have to turn up the one's behind the screen 1-1.5 db more than if the screen wasn't there.

What a great space! Where do you keep your media in relation to this room?

Thanks! If you look at the seats pic again, I have 3 record storage cubes stacked against the wall just out of frame to the left. They are IKEA cubes with the closed back and are just a smidge too snug for a few of my double lp’s as those tend to have larger jackets.

^ That pic is the equipment closet, the seats pic is the one I was trying to reference. Record storage is just to the left out of frame.

Advice in other threads lead me to Imgur which is what I used when posting pics of my main HT (link below.)
