I am not sure how cork would compare. Interestingly though, I had originally planned to put cork tiles on top of the dry core but decided it was fine without it.
Beautiful, I've seen photos before but had no idea what it was. What's the smaller unit on the left (phono supply), phono stage?
Nice looking system. BTW, I noticed you have a SolidSteel rack. How do you like it? I'm looking at buying one for my system. Thanks
To me, this is a real man cave. Not those storage units that look like HGTV got a hold of. Nothing wrong with them but they're more like a grown-up Frat House. And you are right, Basements are for Boyz.
Same here another rainy day, blinds and curtains closed. Since this room was the former motel lobby, there is a lot of glass on three sides, so not as dark as your "cave", but comfy anyway. After a few adult beverages, I won't be paying much attention to the small amount of ambient light. It will be dark in a few hours anyway.
Wife's out all day. So far Mofi I Robot, Crime of the Century, Aja, Opeth - Pale Communion, Friday Music 45 rpm The Yes Album and my Porky cut of Relayer. Gonna need an ear break soon lol
I really like it. It's solid as a rock. But dang was it pricey. If somebody was handy at woodworking, I think it would be very cost effective to just buy the hardware and make your own shelves.
I love that space - the black walls and black furniture create a great atmosphere. No concern about flooding in the basement? My record shelves are all propped up on cinder blocks, and that's prevented serious damage on the occasions that water comes in. Last month we were away for 10 days and there was a massive storm that knocked out the power for a few days. The sump pump had no electricity and with no one there to do anything about it, the basement had some flooding. Fortunately the damage was not substantial, although one of my favorite guitars will need repair.
I've been trying to find a Tales From Topographic Oceans print for years to hang in the man cave. I may just grab a couple of double album frames and put one of my 50 million copies of Tales in there
