Very nice. Love me some Focal and the thing I like most is the vinyl shelf has so much space to fill, “I’m working on it honey! It’ll be filled soon”
Tha man cave as of today. Mrs. Chili asked me if, when I lean back in the sweet spot, I am satisfied that nothing is left to be done. I replied, "Never!"
They are old (mid-late 90s vintage) and not particularly high end but they sound wonderful. There's a Definitive Technologies sub to round out the bass.
Thanks! Ya i really like it, its super comfortable. Small room so the small speakers work perfectly in there.
Ha ya, I am working on it. In the early 90's i had a good collection of vinyl, 3-400 or so. Foolishly sold it all, and a large collection of cd's too. So starting from scratch. Bought about 500 cd's last night from a bitter ex-wife selling off her ex's collection that had been in storage. Found around 200 i'll keep. Oh, and she charged me $40....
I posted these images in an earlier version of this thread some time back but I thought some might enjoy seeing our dining room system, a 1969 Zenith Z931 console purchased from a local fix-it shop a few years back for $125. I've added a Bluetooth receiver and stream through it most of the time these days vs. playing records although the turntable works fine.
I just finished dinner while listening to a little Frank on the turntable. Now, I'm streaming Bobby Darin via Spotify. This system, in this hard room (meaning no soft surfaces), is not about the hi-fi sound but the vintage vibe. Suddenly, I feel like a martini...
Probably Pier 1. That's where I got mine, anyway. They don't sell cool stuff anymore. Action Pact, Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Les Baxter, Eden Ahbez, I love this stuff! Growing up in SoCal with all the tiki rooms, I think this kitsch is in my DNA.
I'm adjusting to new amp & speakers... Really enjoying them so far. Nice having them positioned in the corners, set back a little. Took the photo this morning because I don't have much lighting in here at night.
Wonderfully expressed sentiment...no wonder you've been together 45 years! Best of luck to you both on the new journey.
@Manimal i don't know you or anything about you but if you're ever in Portland you have an open invitation to come kick it just based on the Redd Foxx painting and re-purposed newspaper box....
Well, sort of. My stepson had the basement as his bedroom for a few years. Then we redid it a little when he moved out, about 5 years ago. Used this space every now and then as a second tv room for a while. I got back into audio a year ago and have been slowly working on my system and room since.
Thanks man, I’ll let my brother know ( it’s his room) he’ll dig the comment. He got that painting from the artist in New Orleans
