Boy, does your room bring back great memories. When I lived in Brooklyn, I originally had one of our spare Bedrooms setup as my listening room. Once my daughter was born, I had to forfeit the room. I had our attic finished and moved up there. It even looks like the same color. Wow, great memories.
    Thanks for posting the photo's

The speaker cabinets are baltic birch, mdf and kerf mdf. The kerf is filled with glass beads used in bead blasting. It is finer than sand. The cabinets have a sprayed dampening liner and fiberglass batting. The drivers are JBL 2235H wooffers, Altec 511B horns with 802-8G drivers and JBL 077 crystal prism tweeters. The crossovers build from a combination JBL 3106 and Altec N501 schematics. I still need to veneer the cabinets which will be sapele pommele.

    I concur.

I bet you can afford built speakers. What's special about your DIYs?

What is above the speaker in one of the pictures?

What's your full address? I'll send my cousin Pedro to pay you a visit. When are you NOT home? ;-)

Loved the blue light and the Korean dolls.

    Thanks in advance.

    1) I have owned and built somewhere around 30 sets of speakers. I've tried single driver high effeciency, horns, electrostats, floor standing, bookshelf, new, vintage, DIY, inexpensive and uber expensive. I was looking for synergy, that ever elusive something that makes me say "that's it" without knowing what "that" is. These now give me what I want. Good tight bass, sweet mids and that high end sizzle I like. They image fantastically, are open, airy, with a very good depth of field. Its like hearing music coming from a the next room, when you walk in the room the music opens up. These speakers allow the music to open up.

    2) That is a Manley Labs Stingray. EveAnna has a picture of my amp on her website on the Stingray page. You'll recognize the wall color.

    3) Maybe when I know you better. :shh:

    4) They are Japanese dolls.

These speakers replaced a custom set of Altec A7 Voice of the Theatre speakers that I veneered in walnut. They just didn't have the bass I wanted for near field listening.

My other DIY speakers that got me almost to nirvana were these corner horns using all JBL drivers. They are veneered in rosewood from Brazil.

    Beautiful stuff.

VERY nice furniture (what's it called?) you have your equipment on. Any story behind your acquiring that?

It is called a breakfront or serving table and usually found in a dinning room. This one I found at a clearance center for Diane Flack Furniture here in San Antonio. Here is a picture of it when I brought it home. It shows the marble top.

That sounds like a pair of speaker I'd like.

I promise Pedro will leave the rest of your stuff untouched. Just a broken lock or so, no more.

    Is it filled with sand?

Pedro is too lazy so he'd probable leave it there if it is filled with sand.

Yep, they were my dad's 1979 Klipsch Cornwall 3-way horn loudspeakers. They've been modified by my younger bro who's now using them as a 2-way for his audio/HT system. The mods are not permanent and the Cornwalls can be returned to their original 3-way design with crossovers in an hour!:agree:

Those were indeed MIT Terminator 2 speaker cables, going to my DIY 15" subwoofer that's just outside the picture's view.

Wardsweb's beautiful DIY loudspeakers and my bro's modded Cornwalls share one particular similarity in that they both use Altec 511B horns, but with Altec 902-8B drivers instead of WW's 802-8Gs. I can tell you these Cornwalls are now a major sonic improvement over their original 3-way design...of course the active crossover/EQ helps, natch.:righton:

WW's handbuilt loudspeakers are certainly gorgeous, though...the Cornwalls need some work still aesthetically.

Love the set up. :righton: I've been thinking of building my own sandbox for my turntable for a long time. Any advise or tips you could share? Really like the looks of yours as well.

    Thanks,

    Harman Kardon A260

    ^^^^^Wow that's purdy!

    I'm new to these forums
I'm into refurbing old vintage amps for vinyl pleasures
    Here's one of my latest
    A 1960 Harman Kardon A-260
    It's an integrated amp with 2x12AX7 2x12AU7 2x7247(12DH7) and 4x6L6GC (currently running a quad of 7581A)

Looks good I think (if you like the vintage look with no LED or cold cathode lighting- but it makes it's own light show) and sounds fantastic!

Looks like there's others in this SH forum that are into restoring old gear so I'm looking forward to discussing various amp projects with anyone
