A show airs on Monday night and has 4 million viewers, on Tuesday morning the ratings are posted. Then over the course of the next 2 weeks an additional 4 million people watch the show on DVR, Hulu, etc. What is the rating? They aren't going back and changing the rating 2 weeks later. I know they pay attention to Live+7 days, but even that seems a little misleading as I never see them actually go back and adjust the ratings to reflect that.

I could be missing some pieces of the puzzle, so if there are other considerations let me know.

    We Are The Millers Cancelled

The Millers is a surprise since the network owned the show. Creatively though, the show was flailing around trying to find its nitch this season while shoehorning in Sean Hayes essentially playing "Just Jack" again....

Jane the Virgin has been a big surprise for me. I checked it out on a fluke and loved it right away. Very funny and, like you say, has a lot of heart.

Despite the "terrible even for the CW" ratings, I think Jane The Virgin has a chance of sticking around. It has gotten the network some good critical praise and the show is owned by Warner Bros.

The CW just renewed all of their fall shows. The following series will be returning for the 2015/2016 season.

    Supernatural (season 11)
    The Vampire Diaries (season 7)
    Arrow (season 4)
    Reign (season 3)
    The 100 (season 3)
    The Originals (season 3)
    Jane The Virgin (season 2)
    The Flash (season 2)

  7. Reign's renewal is a bit of surprise, the show has been struggling in its ratings. It's still a decent show if you enjoy historical, soapy drama.

They're trying to establish C7 (aka "Live+7") as the standard, since that yields the highest possible number for advertisers:

I only watch one of those - Jane The Virgin, for which Gina Rodriguez won a Golden Globe (Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy).

Tried the first 2 and they just didn't do it for me and NCIS is just OK. If I miss it then I miss it.

I enjoy the reg NCIS enough. Talking about TBBT, I must be the only person that see it as dumb and boring.

Fox gave early renewals to Empire (after airing only 2 episodes), Gotham and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

5 minutes of Empire was enough for me. Gotham wasn't for me. Keep saying I'll try BNN but haven't yet.

    Well, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was a no-brainer.

Empire appeals to a demographic that is usually ignored by the major networks, so I really wasn't surprised it drew a large audience.

I am glad Scorpion gets another season it is a good show! I am still hoping Forever gets another season! I Could not get into Madam Secretary not sure why! Ncis New Orleans is good but it will take at least two seasons to have a concrete audience !
