Have you checked the usual places? Amazon has it for $185. ImportCDs has it for $152.

Just got my box set today. I must say that Spincds did a great job in protecting this package. It's in top mint shape! Glad I finally got it!

The Prince of Drummers! Beware the barf alert in the included documentary when Phil & Dick claim Skip was just as good a drummer as Viv. Dang, not even the great Bobby Elliott comes close...
Should've just left it at unreliable! At any rate, the doc has lots of well-preserved footage from all eras.

"Defecting Grey" in the 10" format is a wondrous thing. The 'Don't Bring Me Down' rehearsal is marred by (Phil's?) untutored tambourine bashed way too close to the mic. Mostly drowns out another tasty performance from Viv. Dick is turned way down to boot. That's as far as I've gotten. Kudos to all concerned-great box set!

Still no box here and they shipped April 3rd. At one point I asked that they cancel the order , but they shipped it anyhow and now no delivery. I think one order and I'm done with Spin.

Anyone still thinking about getting this box, but waiting a while for prices to drop, may want to bite the bullet andact now.
I bumped into Phil May in the changing rooms at my local sports centre the other week(!) and we were talking about this set. He told me it's pretty much sold out.

  17. So, this box set has been out for a few months now, and I want to know if Snapper actually remastered the '60s albums up to Parachute for this box set, or if they simply just reused their previous masterings.

The only reason I ask is because I notice those first few albums suspiciously share the same tracklisting as the earlier remastered editions, right down to the bonus tracks...

Hopefully some Pretty Things expert like @Laservampire can chime in! :p

None of the albums have been re-mastered for this boxset - I ripped the boxset as WAVs to my hardrive and they're all identical.

  19. Eegads. Thanks for the reply back. And this thing right now on Amazon US costs, what, $182.67?!? Guess the only new stuff here are the 2 Rarities discs, but jeez, $180...

EDIT: And I'm reading right now that the Paradiso stuff has been edited down compared to its bootleg counterpart. Why did they feel the need to do that? >_>

I don't have the bootleg to compare, but the Paradiso stuff has either gone through a LOT of noise reduction or is from a lossy source.

Decided to get the box. I already have three albums on gold reissue , so I don't need it, it just that I want it and I know how I will feel few months from now when the price goes up and I will not be able to afford it any more. Cost me 165 dollars with shipping.
Guess I will leave it sealed for now.

That seems reasonable and is a little better than what I paid.
