UK promo of 'Hokey Pokey' by Richard & Linda Thompson. This is a first pressing, with A-1U/B-1U matrices, '1' mothers and 'G' stampers.
Epic Records sampler "It's A Knockout" with an early mix of Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time" here titled "Foreplay/Fiveplay/Long Time". Apparently, after this sampler was released, Tom Scholz decided to remix the album before release. There are subtle differences throughout this mix and there are some extra lyrics at the end of the song. There's a link to a Youtube video of this mix on the Discogs page. There are two versions of this release--this one has the album inside a cover inside a two pocket folder with promo pictures and bios of the groups included on the LP. The back of this cover is blank with a gold promo stamp. The other version has the song titles on the back and no promo stamp. It's unknown if it included the outer folder and the pictures and bios.
I forgot I had this WLP of No Ballads by The Rockets. I saw this band open for Blue Oyster Cult in Johnstown, PA. in late 1979/early 1980. They brought the goods live. (R.I.P. David Gilbert) This LP was half-speed mastered by Stan Ricker using Mobile Fidelity's gear.
News in my collection. Not a promo label on this, but I think an item of interest: Big Brother & The Holding Company first album. On back cover says "DJ COPY NOT FOR SALE", while the label is the standard one...but I've never seen an original '67 Mainstream Records promo label for this title too!!
I posted earlier the Epic promo "It's A Knockout". One version has a blank back cover with a gold promo stamp. This one has the song titles on the back cover. Unfortunately, it's so badly stained, I feel like washing my hands after handling it:
Yes, the sampler was released before the Boston album and Tom tinkered with the mix. The early mix has minor differences throughout and an extra vocal line at the end. This early version is available on YouTube.
I have a promo 45 of Frank Sinatra singing a different version of "High Hope", with references to future President Kennedy from 1960. The B-side features the same song, but then cuts to excerpts from speeches from the then-Senator.
I also have the "Script Cover" of Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen, which I obtained directly from a former Columbia Records exec. He said at one point he had a whole BOX of these, but this was the last one he still had!
