If we're serious about what the next "Quadio" box set should be, then I guess so.

But maybe the success of the Chicago box will inspire other labels to do similar reissues?

Of course, more likely is that Rhino won't do a 2nd pressing and then no one will do any similar sets because this one 'only' sold 3,000 copies....

There's also a Tony Orlando & Dawn's Greatest Hits on Quad. I have a vinyl of that quad album.

Hits comp Quad on Arista rather than Warner iirc, under Sony Music umbrella now maybe?

Edit: Hits Quad on Arista, the two albums in Quad on Elektra

That's cool. Never said you were lying or telling stories. Your reference to others thoughts as "yarns" indicates that you think their statements are tall tales. So your "guy" at WEA couldn't be mistaken or been given false information?

Sounds like a awesome gig especially to someone like me who loves to see printed promo stuff.

The Promo stuff isn't paper goods usually. Its the "Toys" used to promote the albums..paperweights and other novelty gimmicks. Tour Jackets, Autographed guitars etc

All joking aside, I'd actually welcome all three of these into my home. Those two ELEKTRA albums had some damn fine songs, especially the following track, which I've always enjoyed ...

Yea that is what I meant also. I just used printed too loosely. Should have used the word "made" or whatever instead. As a graphic designer I think it's great to see that kind of stuff. Wish I had some of it but at any rate still sounds great.

Didn't mean to derail the thread. Carry on.

And on LP, they were SQ (Sorta Quadraphonic).

Add to the Spinners Quad extant. "Mighty Love" if I recall correctly was available in Quad.

The last three Guess Who quads were faked, maybe real quad tapes exist, but we haven't heard them.

From what I read any Quad mixes in the near future are more far than near or not possible. As of the Warner, Arista or Elektra and Columbia Quad releases is questionable. Being a member of other music forums, this is where I get info on these from. I'd love to see a lot more of these released in Quad but I've lost most of my hope for them.

I bought it at a very reasonable price last year. It was successful IMO. As I stated in a reply before, I've heard only unhappy results of any other Quad mixes in the near future. Either unable to find masters or the copyright holders just aren't interested, which I do believe. I was hoping to see more of the AF releases but of course, nothing since Santana's Lotus since that I'm interested in anyway. A very unhappy note. I'm still hoping tho !

What ever happened to Piano Man ? Seems most B.J. Quad LP's have been issued on SACD but not PM.

Gordon Lightfoot's Sundown Quad LP sounds exactly like the stereo mix. I don't hear any difference, really. Anyone else noticed that ? Carefree Highway may be an exception tho. I better state, the songs Sundown and CH.

Two Columbia quad mixed masters arrived on SACD recently, and were both mind blowingly great.

Alice Coltrane & Carlos Santana's Illuminations - Hybrid Multichannel SACD by Dutton Vocalion

Return to Forever - Musicmagic Hybrid Multichannel SACD by Dutton Vocalion

Not sure where you are getting your info from.

And oh yeah, this one too...

    Two albums on one SACD

Deodato - Prelude & Deodato 2 on Hybrid Multichannel SACD by Dutton Vocalion

Plenty of stuff in the pipeline............................

Have you heard it decoded into quad?

No, actually. I only play these on standard stereo equipment. I also edited my post and added something. I have no way of decoding.

You mean these three, or the last three on Hamhead's list?

    Flavours. RCA APD1-0636 (CD4), APT1-0636 (Q8)
    Power In the Music. RCA APD1-0995 (CD4), APT1-0995 (Q8)
    Road Food. RCA APD1-0405 (CD4), APT1-0405 (Q8)

Sometimes the mix sound exactly the same in stereo, but when it is decoded into quad one notices back insts. and vocals appear in rear L & R, lead vocals center front, and lead insts spread out in front L & R. So it's impossible to judge quad separation and instrument placement if only listening in stereo. The Lightfoot album Sundown was issued in Reel to Reel format, and quadraphonic conversions to DVD-A are out there.
