I've recently been digging around for bluegrass covers of Pink Floyd tunes in particular, and am starting to also stumble on some really cool stuff I'd never imagined in bluegrass form before.

I've never really listened to much bluegrass before (just discovered the term "newgrass" last week), and this clip below moments ago - prompting the idea for this thread...

The Punch Brothers did a cover of "Just What I Needed" by The Cars. It's available via YouTube.
John Cowan covers both "Long Distance Runaround" (Yes) and "Indiscipline" (King Crimson)
on one album, though the name escapes me at present.
Bella Fleck & the Flecktones cover The Beatles' "Oh Darling" on their Live Art album (with Cowan on vocals).
And check out Hayseed Dixie too - their cover of The Cars' "Best Friend's Girl" is great.

If anyone can provide some info on bluegrass covers of Rush, my day would be made.

I mean, c'mon now. Serious bluegrass chops on YYZ or La Villa Strangiato? That'd be da bomb.

There's a lot of this going on now, has been for a while.
As someone who's been in the Bluegrass community for a while, this type of thing sounds fun at first but gets real old real quick. There are, of course, good covers that work great.
One of the worst things about being in that community was hearing Wagon Wheel the first go around & then in the next 10 years hearing everyone & everything play it like it was a new tune, grrrr.
