Whoa! Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury? WTF?!? Is this a joke?

Personally, I think Russell Brand would be a much better choice for the role.

    6. The Hero (Live in Montreal, November 1981)

    Initial thoughts;

No complete 1977 BBC session (but can see QP’s strategy there) and too many MK / Montreal tracks.

Some good stuff in there but like the first batch, I must admit that there’s a tinge of disappointment.

Another very disappointing set of tracklists.

I'm all for live tracks, but they at least could have been culled from unreleased shows. Bad move.

Still no Back Chat 12 inch mix? Crazy.

More like missing an opportunity to have the 12" mix of "Staying Power" on CD rather than the heavy-handed live version of it.

I really do think that I've never seen an act handle their back catalogue in such a poor manner. With the likelihood of a box set ever being released becoming more and more unlikely, I'm frustrated by it all and won't be bothering getting any of the "deluxe" issues at this rate.

Why? Maybe they're keeping all the "should be" bonus tracks everyone seems to be lamenting about FOR the boxed set?

I remember hearing via the Queenzone forum about an interview Roger Taylor did on German radio in April, where he was asked if the reissues were essentially tasters for a box set. He said that "I didn’t think there was much more stuff … as far as I’m aware there’s really not much that I am, that I’m not aware of, you know." Considering the wealth of unreleased material/takes/demos played at Queen conventions over the years, it sounds more like a diplomatic way of saying that they don't want to open up the vaults to the extent that fans want, which is fair enough and is also their prerogative...just disappointing. I really could do without redundant previously released live tracks padding out the deluxe issues.

"Sheer Heart Attack (Live in Paris, February 28 1979)" is probably the version from Live Killers too.

Thanks for the tracklisting. Looks like I'm heading for the standard editions once again.

Yup, I picked up Q2 and SHA as standard editions, the bonus tracks didn't seem worth an extra 30% on the price.

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but does the Deep Cuts version of Black Queen end differently, without the Funny How Love Is overlap, or does it just fade out? (I sincerely it doesn't end with the false stop like the W. German CD does...)

I assume the medley structure of Flick of the Wrist and Lily of the Valley is preserved--unfortunate since the B-side version of Lily was clean.

What, hold ALL the BBC and B-side tracks back until the Queen fans are old and dying? Great strategy!

These reissues aren't even worth illegally downloading.

  17. Retail in Australia (at JB Hi-Fi) for the Queen 2011 remasters is as follows:

    1. Standard editions are $19.95 AUD (which equals 14.93 EUR; 13.04 GBP; or $21.35 USD)

    2. Deluxe editions are $28.95 AUD (which equals 21.67 EUR; 18.94 GBP; or $30.97 USD)

The 2011 remaster CDs being sold in Australia are Australian pressings and housed in normal CD cases, with the exception of the Greatest Hits I and II which are in super jewel cases (but also pressed in Australia).

Currency conversions are based on today's exchange rates.

Yes it does. Another missed opportunity as Flick of the Wrist does as well. Possibly Tenement Funster too.

Many of the EP tracks are unreleased, but much-booted, BBC tracks, so I imagine that will be included on the News of the World disc.

I know the bonus tracks are, in generally, a little disappointing, but I do like the new-to-me version of See What A Fool I've Been. It's still far from my favourite Queen song, but I much prefer it to the B-side version. (Though, that said, I actually like the B-side version better now that I can recognize it as a spoof of this version.)

  23. Yes, it's a good version. It sounds very bluesy and quite unlike Queen.
