I have the whole series on my computer and am curious to know if the episodes are the original broadcast versions or if they are the syndicated versions?

Do the DVDs also have cut scenes, or are they the complete episodes?

Difficult to determine broadcast v. syndicated - usually a DVD indicates if cut scenes or added footage included.

    You working on a project?

I thought I heard the 3D episode had scenes taken out in the Syndicated cut, and had scenes not in the original network cut put in.

The syndicated versions usually have shorter running times I believe.

Ah pity... Was really hoping they would be the original broadcast versions.

The DVDs are almost definitely the original versions, if the long theme songs are any indication.

I'm doing a test on a Season 6 episode right now and checking to see if the theme song is long.

By that time, they may have shortened it even in original broadcasts.

    That could be the reason.

I thought they speed-up running time for commercial maximization.

You're right! I'll have to do research on it.

As far as I know, all the TV on DVD I own are the full episodes except for "In Living Color".

    I have:

    Seinfeld
    Simpsons
    The Office (UK & US)
    Parks & Recreation
    30 Rock
    IT Crowd
    Black Adder
    Fawlty Towers
    Monty Python's Flying Circus
    Mr. Bean
    Arrested Development
    Curb Your Enthusiasm

I bet there were music rights issues with In Living Color.

Yep, which is unfortunate because those were some of the best sketches.

    I did some research.

The episodes are "kind of" complete. By that I mean they are not the syndicated versions. But IMO they are not the complete network versions, either. The ABC primetime versions included clever animated bumpers (into commercials), many of which were also used in syndication in the 2000s, before not a second of ad time could be lost. Now, you don't see them anymore, at all.

But, if you don't count that, they are complete episodes, as far as I can tell.

Here’s a different answer that I got over on the Home Theater Forum:

    They are the broadcast versions.

Disney is generally pretty careful about this stuff and does know the difference between the cut-for-syndication shows and the original full broadcast versions. I have seen cases (particularly with Hanna-Barbera) where the execs either didn't have time or didn't care about getting the correct versions of certain shows out, and so bad/wrong/cut versions of shows got released to home video.
