When you see the original 4lp set going for very high prices on discogs for more than 6 years now, I am quite happy they repress it ! I will finally be able to own this.

There are already 10 white vinyl version for sale on discogs for more than 100€.

I posted a comment to tell people the record is still available in stores, I got insulted by those who sell it for that crazy price !

He's my second most listened to artist this year on Spotify (behind Frank Zappa of all people). Might have something to do with me force feeding myself the French language. But that's not to dismiss Halliday! I found his diction so excellent, and the music enjoyable enough. Listening to him, you'd almost believe French was the language of rock'n'roll. He doesn't hit a lot of different notes but he makes the most of them.

Not sure what you're hearing, but I'm listening to Rivière... Ouvre ton lit for the very first time and it's f%$#ing fantastic.

That's because it's probably the best thing he ever did. There are different phases in his career, and he benefited from an unprecedented new popularity from the mid 80s onwards with 3 big mainstream albums following a (relative) slump for a few years. Many of his fans don't really know, or care about "Rivière" (even if Johnny did play songs from that album on stage later on his career). The "modern" Hallyday is the one that's been parodied the most by comedians, by so-called lookalikes, and what most people picture when they think "Johnny Hallyday". "Rivière" is not the Hallyday you would hear on french radio.

Don't bother Somnar, people like that are stubborn and just don't know what they are talking about.
First they say he did no good album, then when you give them example of a good album they find another excuse to hate the guy ...

He had several great albums and a lot of hit singles, he was a good musician and performer, he met Hendrix and other international stars and performed with them.

Let haters hate, ignore their ignorance

Great documentary series! Watched it twice!

Speaking of Johnny Hallyday, since his death it seems like the record company is firing albums, such as special or deluxe editions, live albums etc., like bullets at his fans. Apart from Elvis, I can't think of any other artist whose back catalogue and unreleased live shows are or were being (re)issued at this speed.
