The Rock is going to be in a movie called Rampage based on the 1980's video game!

This looks like a whole lot of brainless fun! :)

Here's footage of the arcade game if you've never played it or need a reminder:

Just what the world needs, another clueless action film loosely based on some arcade game.

Yeah, but this one seems to not take itself seriously which is a good thing. :)

I loved playing "Rampage" in the arcade back in the day!
I hope the movie maintains my two favorite parts of the game:

When your monster punched through the wall of a building, sometimes it would reveal someone in the bath... who would scream, and the monster would look embarrassed, like "Oops, sorry."

...if your monster picked up and ate the soldier carrying a flame thrower, he would then burp and a little jet of fire would come out of his mouth.

I'd rather see movies based on NARC or Rolling Thunder or Operation Wolf.

Would you settle for a 3-D version of Pong? :)

It looks like the movie goes completely against the point of the game: becoming a monster and causing general mayhem.

That's why the game created such a stir. The goal was to kill people and destroy property (albeit in a comical way).

The big problem with the movie can be distilled thusly:

    Game: monsters=heroes
    Movie: monsters=villains

Hollywood movie execs are overpaid. The film industry would be better served if all action movie ideas came from Mr. Kevin O'Donnell, age 10, a paperboy from Alton, Illinois.

Wow, this looks terrible. They could've taken it in a less serious direction, but decided to Dark Knight-ify it, pretty much.

How much less serious could they possibly make it?!

Someone who knows that Big Dumb Action Movies staring The Rock always make a nice profit. :) It might not end up being a good movie, but he has the charisma to carry it.
