I decided to go to one more show.....July 5th Holmdel (hope most of the holiday shore traffic is out of the way the day before).

My ticket price was cheaper than the coffee book.

Why is the thought of paying $75 for a book so ridiculous, with the amount of money that we spend on the 50th remaster-rerelease of the cd that we already own? Ever heard of "The Boy From Tupelo"? I got it for $80. Bargain.
I'm sure that I would pay over $75 for a nice hardcover book set by a favorite author. $75, really, you're complaining about that?

looking forward to seeing them on july 6 at jones beach. a saturday night show with a home town crowd should be good. i was going through some old stuff today and came across this in my collection so i thought i'd scan it for here. it's an original hand bill from 1966.

Paid $92 each for three tickets in the 5th row for my wife, my daughter and myself, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto.

Did anyone else catch one of the Boston shows? I bought tickets to Tuesday and managed to win them for Friday. Both were good, but Friday was on another level of energy and performance. Dino in particular was on fire at the second show, compared to being a little draggy during the first.

One thing I'm taking away from these performances is that Gene Cornish is pretty underrated as a guitarist. He's flashy when he needs to be and subtle and tasteful when not.

Had a brief conversation with Eddie Brigati. What a cool guy. He seems so happy to be back.

what a fun show at jones beach saturday night. fortunately there was a bit of a breeze off the bay since it's been in the upper 90's and quite humid. i think the set list is the same for all of the shows as they are following the video segments throughout the show. about 2 hours with no intermission. dino is still an amazing drummer. see them if you can!

I saw them at the Richard Rogers Theater on Broadway, and in Atlanta. If you lived through the 60s, and if you liked their music at all, don't miss the show. "People Got To Be Free" about sums up the 60s for me, musically and politically. Both trips would have been worth it just to hear them perform that song. We can argue about "stature" and "the 60s" but I believe that the Rascals are the only group of their stature (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc.), from the 60s, with all of the members living. It's a great evening.

No, it might just hold up because of the qualifier: "from the 60s, with all of the members living". I'm not sure if there are any other R&R Hall Of Fame bands that are still around from the 60s and that have all of the members living. You can argue about their "stature", but not the fact that they are from the 60s, with all of the members living. Arnie

Genesis started in (released their first album in) the '60s. All original members still alive (either first album lineup or most famous lineup, take your pick). In Hall of Fame.

No argument here. I think a large element of this reunion is an attempt to reclaim their stature, in a sense. The body of work they created is so beyond the typical "'60's hitmakers" on the casino circuit (and I say that with due respect, because I love those shows sometimes). I hope that casual fans who only really knew "Good Lovin'" and "Groovin'" are seeing the show and realizing how much great music is there.

...off the top of my head. Would have to look at the inductee list to come up with more.

Sorry, "the Rascals are the only American group of their stature (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc.), from the 60s, with all of the members living...."

I think maybe you should just narrow it a bit more to ensure debate is closed:

"The Rascals are the only American group of their stature (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc.), from the 60s, who had a hit with a song titled How Can I Be Sure, with all the members living..."

All still alive, yes; BUT none of these bands are active and/or touring with all original members. (I guess CSN could be the exception, but you'd really have to include Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves also). I assumed that the OP meant that The Rascals are the only band that are active on the road right now and that also fall into the categories of "stature" and "from the 60s". Arnie

Well, the "touring" and "American" qualifiers weren't part of the original statement.

And I disagree about Taylor and Reeves. The Déjà Vu album was credited to CSNY, with Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves listed in smaller type. I don't know of anyone who considered them to be members of CSNY who were on the same footing with the four principals. And Reeves was fired from their touring band in April of 1970.

If you go outside the US, The Seekers qualify.

50 years later, all 4 originals did a May 2013 tour.

Not exactly a band, but Diana, Mary & Cindy performed together for 3 years in the 60's which gives them a certain legitimacy.

Okay, cool, a lot of people who made records in 1965 are still alive.

So, this Rascals tour is really something, huh?

Every member of the 1969 lineup of the Rolling Stones performed on the same stage in December 2012.
