Yep, it's the one I have. The scanner wanted to oversaturate but I adjusted that before the scan to prevent it. It wanted to do the same with the labels too. Strange...

I've had that same problem with my scanner.

I also realize that some pressing plants sometimes get bad master copies from the labels, or the masters get worn, or some plants try to save on ink. So, it is sometimes hard to determine what really is correct. So one batch, or pressing plant will produce one version of a cover, and we never know how accurate it is in terms of color, tint, hue, or saturation. Some record companies will even re-touch the artwork on major reissue campaigns. You and I have had these discussions before.

I like your rendering because it's crisp and clean. I may actually add just a smidgen more color to it, though.:D

I like that you leave the catalog number and record label logos in. It reminds me of the era in which an album came out. I look at the covers as an historical document, not just a piece of art. I also also think of the logos as art. Most people remove them when they render them on Album Art Exchange. I hate that! There have been times where i've added back the logo!

The cover as presented is exactly what my LP looks like. I was true to its actual appearance. I only remove scratches and other artifacts that get in the way. That's the case with just about everything on the site. It may be richer on other copies but, just like labels, there can be variances as you said.

I would never remove anything like that. I got into doing all this because of the historical nature of it. ABC Records is no more so how boring would it be to remove references to it?

Aside from legal reasons why a company would have to remove the logo, I would assume that many people who post to other album art sites scan CD covers, or didn't grow up during the vinyl era, and think of the logos and catalog numbers as something that shouldn't be there. I suppose another reason is that people from other countries have different companies or logos on their covers, and don't want to see what they perceive to be the wrong ones. I run into this quite a bit when, say only people from the U.K. contribute covers with the E.U. subsidiary logos on them. I imagine they feel the same way when they see something I contribute that they never had. So, I guess people decide that the best solution is to get rid of the logos entirely.

Thanks Ed. I see Smugmug has been dismantled. That site was a great resource. Glad to see you're putting forth the effort.

    Appreciated!

So glad you like it! I still have no clue what happened to SmugMug but thankfully, we do have most of the labels from it. I'm backlogged with stuff but I still have some labels left to finish off. I'll get there, I promise.

Finally! More labels scans. The "T" gallery is now on-line!

Note: Yes, a couple of the Tamla labels look dodgy but I thought it was better to present them as they are rather than to not have them at all due to their uniqueness.

HA! Thanks! This took a couple of hours and I wasn't sure how well this would go. Thankfully, it turned out pretty good!

You should crop the middle out, blank out the specifics and make it another label for your collection.

    Okay...many years later...

All the "T" labels are done. I also went back and did the "D"'s. Somehow, I missed them.

Now we're well into the "V"'s!

FYI...I've been adding some in as I go and improving what I can.

More "V"'s are done and I added some Sesame Street labels. Bad news concerning them: the originals that lived in the SmugMug gallery have totally vanished. Good news: I did them so I can just do them again. I'll get on them sooner than later.
