I have the Big Beat version of Odessey and Oracle and hope to compare with the Varese Serabande RSD issue. Yes it is too bad the Mono tapes are missing.

FYI, in an e-mail that Rhino sent out today, they mentioned that 2500 copies of the REM box were made. Now, everything I've seen from WB (their internal RSD sales spreadsheet) and even on the RSD official site says that 1000 will be made available to stores.

What that means to me, is that the other 1500 copies could go on sale through REM's website online, which Warner has a history of doing (see BecauseSoundMatters, Flaming Lips, etc.).

Either way, the fact that more of these are in the wild is a good thing and hopefully we'll find out what the plans are for the other 1500 later on.

The Zombies and The Animals are the top of my list. I never found last year's Zombies LP but still looking. The Animals' releases last year were the best items I bought. For this year I sent a small list of UK releases (plus Zombies) to a friend in Finland with hopes he can help me out this year.

Are the Real Groovy releases official RSD releases for New Zealand?

Any clue on what the source is for The Idle Race?

Princeton Records mentioned on Social Media that the REM set is quite expensive... and very limited... I'm sure they'll get a decent fill (5-10 would be my guess) but I'm giving up on this one - will just get the cd's....

Just wondering, are there any cool events happening in the store(s) you plan to visit on Record Store Day? There isn't much talk about that here, but I always assumed they would be part of the fun. Where I work, we have Mike Mills from R.E.M., a Def Leppard tribute band, and a bunch of local bands.

What else is happening out there?

Almost seemed like a fluke too since they were made by ABKCO.

Bull Moose- both Good Records and CD Source in Dallas have local bands, free food, free beer at Good Records, usually some food trucks too. Actually, the party is the best part of the day!

Pegasus Records in Florence/Muscle Shoals always have live bands inside the store, used record dealers outside the store, refreshments and free goodies everywhere. Very much worth the trip.

I just went over the lists and from what I can see:
The Byrds – Straight for the Sun - looks like it will be released in the UK and not in Canada or the US.
The Fall - 13 Killers has fallen from the face of the planet although White Lightning is listed in the UK
Half Japanese will not be available in Canada again (eat hot death Fire Records!)
Neil Young - Cow Palace shows up on the UK list but not the one for Canada or the US

13 Killers has been out in the UK for about a year, and is still easily available.

I'm not sure it was ever scheduled for a US release, but the single was. Mind you as you can still get all the previous Fall RSD releases pretty easily it shouldn't be too difficult to pick this up (and of course unlike other RSD singles this is an old track)

Yeah, I was expecting to get screwed on the Half Japanese but that one hurts if it turns out to be true.
