Record Store Day "RSD" April 2018 Releases*

It’ll be the bonus disc from the deluxe CD set from last year. Bit cheeky though as all their other albums had true alternate versions and this one has alternate versions of a bunch of songs from the official release and then other demos from the sessions. The last two didn’t sell out so expect to be able to pick this up for the same price easily the week after release.

 

Who’s TMR? Universal released their version shortly before the Sundazed pressing last November.

 

The guy who owns the shop that I frequent in NYC was only able to get 1 copy of the Muddy Waters Sundazed reissue, which I was lucky enough to purachse. And he has a long standing relationship with Sundazed. I believe @Kat Records. These are very small runs.

 

Third Man Records. They partnered with Universal for the Muddy release

 

TMR is Third Man Records. While Third Man didn't do The Best Of Muddy Waters, they did reissue Electric Mud at the end of last year, in brown and black versions. I think the previous poster may be mixing up the reissues.

 

Ok, thanks. I bought a copy. I wasn’t impressed with the pressing. If it wasn’t TMR, I wonder who pressed it?

How did you like the Electric Mud pressing?

 

Oh I am not doubting @Kat Records, the link was given, it does indeed say 1350.
It is recordstoreday.com that I'm doubting. If that number is indeed true, and it may well be, that simply means that not every record store in America will be able to get even one copy. That doesn't sound to me like a great way to make money.

 

You’re right. The Muddy Waters Sundazed LP is terrific. Maybe Sundazed was only allowed by their licensing agreement to issue a small amount because Universal already issued their own version a few weeks earlier. Who knows.

 

I lucked out at Amoeba in SF a couple of months ago. They had 2 copies just sitting in the bin.

 

I just looked at the upcoming list.

I stopped reading halfway through.

So much GREAT STUFF I don't want to know about it.

Yeah, the Sundazed Best of MW was excellent. It'll be interesting to see if this year's offerings will be as good.

 

Does anybody care to guess who is cutting the Sundazed Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley records?

Frank Zappa, 'Lumpy Gravy' b/w 'Primordial' is said to be slated for 4,000 copies. This quantity makes a lot more sense as a release into a global market for an annual sales event.

 

That is on my essentials hit list for sure

Definitely some. Kevin Gray did the aforementioned Best of Muddy Waters on Sundazed, and also his inscription is in the deadwax of the Sundazed subsidary Modern Harmonic release of Astro Sounds From Beyond The Year 2000.

Put me in for the Floyd, Zappa, maybe Dead Filmore, maybe Kinks. If I could get the first two, I'm happy.
