sO I am in Europe on business but have 2 days in Zurich. Are there any good vinyl stores to go to?

also what about nightlife, any good areas to check out?

    thanks in advance

If there are any, I certainly didn't stumble across them when I visited 2 years ago.

I found Zurich to be a wee bit too "buttoned down" for my taste, with lots of brand name shops you can find anywhere. But music shops? I didn't see even one.

The Old Town had some mighty fine dining establishments, though!

uh oh. I was hoping to go out and get loaded to relieve the pain of my luggage being stolen! Dont tell me it is buttoned down, man.

If you can catch Buck Nasty and the Healers at the Casa Bar in the old town, across the river from the railway station, in the pedestrian street behind the one that runs along the river (Münstergasse 30), you are going to have a cracking time.

I used to live there. Lots of CD stores, I know of a few record stores but information is old.

    Crazybeat - Badenerstrasse 79

    Then there's this one :

    http://www.6pack.ch/

The best record store I knew was at Kreuzplatz, close to the tram stop (no. 11) but I'm not sure if it's still there (and I forgot the name sorry).

You just missed a record show by a week which is normally excellent.

The German word for records is Schallplatten so it's worth doing a search at google.ch.

    Good luck.

Nightlife, just head to Niederdorfstrasse, anything you might ever want is there !!! It's the other side of the river from the "buttoned down" part ;)

It is a pity I didn't see this thread before, there are actually a few good record stores in Zürich.

Any updated recommendations? I'm a CD person as opposed to vinyl if that makes a difference. Would appreciate any leads. Thanks.

lots of vinyl in cardboard boxes - recommended!

I bought these on Saturday June 4 2011:

Tommy Keene - Songs From the Film (German)
Godfathers - Birth School Work Death (Dutch)
Marshall Crenshaw - Field Day (German)
    Replacements - Don't Tell a Soul (German)
Was (not Was) - Born To Laugh at Tornadoes (US still sealed cut-out)
each record was 5 sfr and all were in immaculate state...
By the way all payments are in cash!

Bringing back a long quiet thread. I'm going to be in Zurich in a few days - any updated record store recommendations in the area?

    Thanks!
